Thanks for the input guys. I am steering towards the HR for its ease of packaging with the inlet pipework, easy to run the pipework from one turbo to the inlet on the other side after passing through the cooler. Changing the phase of the cams for maximum response is very appealing.
It will be run by a Haltech so no issues there.

DaveJackson- yes they are in a G35 if someone has imported one but they are rare as rockinghorse sh*t.
I could only find 2 DE motors from a bunch of wreckers here in Brisvegas and they have the original box so it's also cheaper for me to buy a CD009 and ship it here.

I haven't read any oil surge/starvation issues with just the addition of a pan spacer- do you guys run traps doors to prevent this??

Also where do take the oil pressure feed for the turbo' from? I've only found one picture and it looked like it was tapped from the oil pressure sensor on the passenger side and then run under the block for the driver side turbo- is that correct or do you tap into the block?

Thanks for the replies!

In Brisbane. PM me with a price and what comes with the motor.

I was leaning towards the HR due to the longer rod/revability and reduced side loads. Only had a few concerns. Would the OEM bearings be ok at that power level. Could i leave the head standard other than new springs and retainers. With around the 500rwhp target i wanted to be sure the standard head would flow enough. But looking at the lift and duration i suspect it won't be an issue?

What pistons & head gasket did you use in the HR?
I was looking at contacting Mahle to see if they had made any.

Cheers

I think most consider the stock HR to hold 500whp fine, and just use an OEM HR headgasket if you do build, its fine at that power level.

Thanks. I'm going to change the pistons and rods mainly for added protection against detonation and slightly lighter rotating assembly.

Cheers

Thanks.

What pistons have people used if they're replaced internals? Rods seem to be on offer but pistons are a "custom" make. Just interested - i was looking at getting some Mahle's made.

Got my answer on the pistons, have one more though...

Been reading about the CD009 gearbox with it's tripple synchro's etc.
With my 2008 VQ35HR I've read that there is a HR version of the CD009 is that correct? Or do i just get one of these?

Thanks

HR gearboxes are all CD009+. That said, DE and HR gearboxes are totally different. Not only do the bell housings not mate up but the HR uses a crappy concentric slave cylinder. The first couple years of production they had all kinds of issues with the slave cylinder..which unlike DE requires dropping the whole tranny to get to.

Thanks guys, i had already got the heavy duty CSC on my order, i was just concerned about the gearbox that listed its part as JK40 and not CD009.
I gather it's a new naming code with the CSC and different bell housing- are the internals still the same??

Thanks again, about to place my order with conceptperformance.

Didn't mean to imply it was a CD009. What I meant was that it has the same syncro improvements/upgrades the CD009 had over the earlier versions.
