^exactly, no reason to even fuss with a catch can when it vents to your exhaust.

although plumming into my exhaust would be nice i don't think i'm going to do it. That would require a long hose run halfway down the car to meet post turbo exhaust.

I'm going to open up the 3/8" vents between the 2 valve covers since they are the biggest of all the valve cover vents and run those down to the bottom of the engine bay so the smell stays out of my cabin. i think that should be sufficient.

A long run of hose is itself a restriction (if narrow)... Might want short, thick hose to a catch can, then longer hose from the can to dump wherever you wish.

id assume youre right.

Is this just not commonly talked of maybe just becuase high boost vehicles are less common?
Id assume ppl would have been all over this topic at some point otherwise..
if i go with a small non vented catch can w no special check valves, and just connect at the plenum like usual, shoudl i be good to go? Not trying to steer away from the topic of course, just asking the advice/input.

I don't think there's any inherent issues with standard setups in high boost...it's just that binder's custom smell reduction system apparently has issues..

^ the stock PCV can stick, restrict and/or let boost in, so...

Safest and easiest is just breathers on all the ports. Done. Smelly but done.

this is what I have.

I had a bad motor at one point, bought a OEM recalled one and this helped big time.

now its the default set up

just found out (since i'm not home) that those center connecting ports on the valve covers are 1/2" and full opening (unlike the drivers side). 1/2" hose should flow plenty!

This never caused me issues except smell so go with this. I was just looking for a better utopia of driving without being intoxicated on fumes. After my 3hr drive home I have a major headache for a few days.

wonder why your car still smells even with recirc air on.... i did 12 hrs with the GF and she didnt even notice anything.

are you driving with the windows open? When i had just turndowns after the turbos right under the seats, with the windows open, it would billow the fumes into the car when driving... Sure you dont have an exhaust leak?

This is windows up. Windows down or with the vent system off is the only way I don't get fumes. So if it was a leak then I would be getting it with windows open i would assume.

I've checked everywhere for leaks though. I was afraid i had a preturbo leak slowing me down and nothing so far. I fixed all those issues. My cutout might be leaking slightly but it's behind the driver and passenger seat so none of that exhaust should be able to make it's way back up front to the engine bay to be sucked in.

IDK.....car is killing me these last few days with that stupid seal issue. Know any good way to get smoke pressurized inside of the exhaust? I could try that to see if there is a header leak that i can't hear or feel with my hands when the car is running.

i smoked my car by just plugging the exhaust when i was looking for an exhaust leak. didnt see any so I dont really know if those smoke machines the garages have pressurize enough. I know my cutout was smoking like hell though, and had to plug that to continue the test.

but windows up, recirc air (vent off) = no fumes.... thats the same way my car is. I can not use fresh air. So your car is the same as mine then.

hmm, i just don't know how to make good smoke. I have a great port in my downpipe for backpressure testing i could use to put smoke into the system. Just don't know how to make good smoke (concentrated).

Ok, tried top take the pulley of to replace the seal today with no luck. While I was messing around I saw that the seal blew out of the timing cover so it definitely was a pressure issue. I put it back into place and no more leak. Tomorrow I'll test it under boost before I replace the seal. I opened my breathers back up.

I'll post pics of it later when I'm on the computer.
