i never wanted to spend that much , thats why i made this thread to see what kind of single turbo kit i can make and eventually do over time for about 4-5k. like buy things individually. but people are being ridiculous and hating/bitching at me. all i wanted was some opinions and some help on how to make more power.nbd.

Unless you have mad fab skills, you can't just piece together a single turbo kit on the 350Z. This isn't a honda. We don't have the luxury of a spacious engine bay.

I have a built motor, billet girdle, forged pistons and rods, hand built with every component upgraded possible. I have thousands of dollars in my motor as many of us do not to mention the EMS, tuning, fuel, etc etc and I am still running a conservative number and not pushing the limits of my setup.
Why should aftermarket engineers receive any less credit than Nissan. Not to mention I know from experience, my stock motor blew at 420 whp and not due to stress

Ok, so we are on the same page. What you describe is very expensive. How much did this all cost? Built blocks are easily $5K, probably more with what you describe, unless you did it all yourself. Anyway, you're another guy who blew the stock engine. Nearly every FI I've met has toasted the stock configuration.

I want to go back to FI, but the 350z is not the car for me to do that with.

op.. ppl are simply mad becuase we get this thread every damn week and no one wants to search or read.

And ever new repeat thread lays over top of all the others so when ppl DO search, they read thread after thread after thread of BS before they get to the material that they can learn from ..

could you learn anything by reading YOUR own post? Of course not. So who else is?

No one.. so read the forum stickies.. PLEASE. Youre suddenlythe first to mention ebay turbo kits? Dooood.. cmon man. No.. theres been a million of these.. and its all hit this year.. this car got inexpensive used.. its not becomming the new civic.. IT IS THE NEW CIVIC...and the noob catastrophe is nearling epedemic proportions..

as a medium vet ( nowhere NEAR OG level mind you) , i dont know why i even hang on here anymore hoping it will change. Grr.

Mael, At the point when things were going my way in business and I had the money to throw away 20K on a hobby, that is exactly what I did. I have owned other Zs and have an emotional bond to the car. I could have purchased a used F430 or Gallardo for what I have invested into this car. If money was tight the last thing I would be thinking about is making my car FI.

I do what I want, not what other people think is the right thing. I have two people in the world to make happy and my girlfriend and I are doing something that we enjoy with a community that has very similar tastes. With all the car shows, HPDEs, (Now drag racing), Events like ZDAYZ I just love the direction the car has taken.

Keeping all of this in perspective, I spend more money a summer on boats than my car will ever cost me, Not to mention from a business standpoint we spend more money in aviation maintenance, fuel, and fees than any car would ever cost anyone. I can tell you that there are private islands like Ocean Reef and the landing fee is 25,000 a year membership. It cost me 1200 to park our plane on the ramp last night. What the OP needs to take away from this is don't waste money to impress someone by saying you have cheap power. Be proud of your setup, get the right parts the first time and save money in the long run.

Yeah I'm talking about engineering the CD009 transmission to mate up with the VR38DETT. I'm back and forth everyday on weather to do the LS swap or some form of FI. I haven't looked into it much, but if Z Fever has the motor and my car then they will come up with a solution. Someone is going to have to pay for the R & D to get the swap done. The first one will be costly, but the costs could go down with subsequent installations. I think swapping in a motor that is already built for what most of us want in a powerful Z would be much better than paying 30k and hoping your motor lasts 30k miles. I just want to be able to beat up on my car like I do now daily and at the track...only with boost.

You could have three stock engines for the price of one built engine, mind you a built engine that could easily roast a bearing in <10k miles seeing zero boost. If you're fine with 4xx whp just buy used longblocks, and that's if needed...I have 20k hard miles on my stock block so far and if it pops I'll probably just get another.

I've thought of this approach as well. I see how hard you drive your stock block and it gives me confidence to go FI, but then again I don't want to be on the back straight of Summit Main and I throw a rod going 130mph. I tend to over analyze everything....

I give the regulars as much slack as possible, you all know that. We all came up and made our bones by being flamed on the way in... some have staying power, most do not. I've said it over and over... THIS IS SPARTA!!

That being said, we are part of the larger community and must abide by the word of law, even if kid gloves and making points nicely don't help people. Believe me, if I have a problem with any members, they will know about it via PM.

I will continue to keep an eye on this thread and if it goes nowhere we will have a notice to get your cats in and then it will be locked up.

Done.
Not even a joke. It's cheaper to buy an FI car and sell yours than to boost yours.

Upside? You don't have the headaches from ****ing with it yourself and get a well sorted car (hopefully).

Downside? Based on the question you asked to start the thread, you'll have no idea what to do when issues arise (they will) and you will have to pay a shop (a small fortune) to fix those unavoidable problems with an aftermarket FI car.
