That's a solid torque curve, those low rpm figures must set u back on your seat! Looking forward to seeing the number after the engine build

Thanks for the props everyone. Now some of you can see where the stillen kit makes sense. So many said it was just a paper weight and to sell it. The torque im getting and throttle response is WELL worth the $2k I would have gotten for it. Plus like i said....still just scratching the surface of what this is capable of.

Near future brings all forged internals, 1000cc injectors, rails, E85, haltech and clutch.

What compression ratio on the built engine? I would go for 'middle of the road' 9.5:1 e.g. GTR style. I always felt the my350z 'standard' 8.6:1 is just too low for most street'ed setups.

GTR compression ratio is 9:1. That ratio seems to be fairly common on turbo builds in this community also. 8.6:1 is not that different and for 91 oct does not seem unreasonable.

Compression ratio isn't that big of a deal until you get to the really laggy setups and gives your tune more margin of error. Which means for 99% of the builds on here anything between 8-9.5 is fine.
I'd only go with above 9, 9.5 if I was building a really serious motor. 10 or 11 to 1 race gas, small nitrous shot with meth injection, billet crank, billet block, bored+stroked, dry sump 288 cams pt9102 kinda sh**.
I've said too much, now everyone knows what my next vq build will be.... WHAT? Not like I'm already searching for someone to make that billet block or anything.

I'd work on getting the first one done before looking for the "next" one.

I know right?!

Engine's in. DAMN getting those headers in were a f*ckn beezey. We had to unbolt the steering shaft from the powersteering rack, and under the dash. Then had to 'gently shape' the headers with a hammer, and pull them together with a ratchet strap.
SMH
Harness tomorrow. Doin it solo. FML. And figure out what's the deal with the tranny mount.

Oh but op I saw your video on the tubes. (I see all z videos, I really do). Sounds good!

I had to do this to get mine to fit properly as well. I'll never do headers with the engine in a car again. nightmare

i had my motor mounts unbolted when i put mine in, simply grabbed the engine with one hand and pull then put the header in with the other hand easy peezy.

Awesome. I was subscribed to the other, but I have g and spend all my time on g35driver.

sick sick sick.

i am by far at the limits with my vortech. its headed to the dyno this weekend (fingers crossed) hoping to hit 650.

once ive drove the beast as is for a few months. im either going to develop a way to drop the stillen on (crazy custom pulley configuration) or just sell it and go with the stillen and the STS twin turbo set up using smaller turbos. with the amount of torque coming out of this thing 9psi should be more than enough to make a beast. No need to waist money on huge turbos IMO.

Like I said I have tried this many times...twin vortec, twin HKS blowers and then had the same idea as this. Many thanks for your tireless dedication to ignore all these turbo humpin naa sayers are get what you wanted out of the kit.

Funny how now we dont hear waist of money, youre going to blow the block etc. I wish people were more like you (and I ..lol) and did things just to be different. We should have tons more options for these cars with this generation.

Most of us are VERY IT Savvy and make decent money (must have to afford boost in the first place) so we should try new things like AWD or hell dual NA VQs.... drop one in the tunk of a G35. LMAO

you get my point.

thanks man, subscribed to this one and I maybe calling you personally for some lessons learned when, if I do my build.

with the boost potential, he should go as low as he ecu/managment can handle. Im running 8:8 and I wish now I was lower compression since im running over 25psi.

I dont know about the Stillen and Vortech setup. Being on G35driver, have you read the thread that kid made on his Stillen+Vortech setup? It went on and on and he got nothing but guff and naa saying and bashing. He had pics of progress to prove he wasnt dreamin'. When it came time that he said he was going to dyno it he just dissapeared. Never made a post after that with results/outcomes. Im guessing it didnt work as if it had you would think he would have thrown it back in everyones face with a big .

I keep in contact with the guy who built the stillen + sts z over in germany. He says he has put over 900 miles on his before he had to put it in storage. He street tuned his on MAF so he hasnt unleashed much. However his video on youtube looks sick!

I must now be patient as I have reached the limits of my engine. Im extremely curious to see what a built engine and 8 more pounds of boost would produce out of this setup though. Damn you nissan for not putting in forged internals!!!

Oh and I never added that this was all tuned off of 91 octane gas. Wish we could get the good stuff here in CO.

Did you tripple up your belts or something? They were breaking at 17psi last I saw it...
