Question question re: intercooler position

I'm new to the FI world so bear with me. I've noticed that the SC and turbo intercoolers are typically mounted directly in front of the engine radiator. Was wondering what inpact that has on the engine temp. It would seem to me that radiator performance would be somewhat compromised for 2 reasons.

1) There's some blockage, although I'm sure it's oversized for most driving conditions.

2) There maybe cases under boost where the heated air coming off the intercooler actually heats the radiator.

Of course, there aren't many other location options.

trying to get educated

the only time i've had a problem is on the hottest day of the year, sitting in crawling traffic, with the AC on......turning off the AC and opening the window fixes it

For me, I notice that the cooling fan kicks in a lot more than it used to, but have never overheated it yet. It definitely does increase the temp of the air hitting the radiator though because the outside air temp sensor is right behind the intercooler. Usually the temp coming off the intercooler is around 10-30 degrees higher than ambient, depending on how much I'm boosting.
