you should think more like 320-330 whp which is like 380 at the crank. Should have bought the vortech kit. i DD my kit with no problems what so ever. it makes a great DD.

Vortech does not make a supercharger for a HR under their own name. Only 2003-2006. The stillen HR supercharger is actually pretty nice and uses the Vortech setup. Myself I would have went with GTM though for more hp.

500 hp will require rfs , big pump, injectors etc.
What are they doing in this area for you?

yeah i think im going to cancel that order with Stillen and get a GTM kit. 6200 bucks for 350 rwhp is ********. One question though, GTM is advertising "up to 500 hp". What are real world expectations?

There are a few dynos floating around. At eight lbs expect around 430. There is a fella in Italy that put down around 450 with a little under 10 lbs. The kit makes around 16 whp per pound. There is a youtube vid of their kit at 14 lbs and 100 octane that produced about 480 IIRC.

I'll be going the GTM route as well. I was considering the stage 2, however I am seriously not a fan of urethane engine mounts. If there was a way to do a solid rubber mount, I think I could tolerate the NVH. As of right now, it's looking like stage one with meth/failsafe. Additionaly, you can take some small consolation that under 5k rpms, the power curves are identical. After 5k rpm the stage two separates itself.

Isn't the GTM kit for the HR basically the same exact kit but re branded. I can see hating on the older Stillen kits but not this one at all. These new kits should be quiter than Vortech kits and make just as much power..

The new kit is not that much better. Yes, they at least got a proper size supercharger but the rest of the kit is still poor. MAF sensors are on the supercharger intake and get maxed out rather quick because the dual intake is only 2.5". The water/air system is also not doing much, and because the IAT sensors are on the inake of the supercharger you really don't know what is going on.

I have a local customer with a Stillen kit on a 370z, and in the spring I will be converting that kit in to a proper air/air cooling system. The MAF sensors will also be located just before the TB (in 2.75" charge pipes) so that proper tuning can be done.

I will admit i did not do enough research. However, i spoke to the shop about options for about 2 hours and webt over all the other possibilities since he specializes in VQ's. After speaking with him today, he assured me i will be in the 400's and told me if im not satisfied, he will work with stillen in making sure the power is sufficient for the 6200 price point. This shop seems to know what theyre talking about and i have no choice but to trust them. I like stillen because of their extensive history with Nissan and the well known brand (well, way more well known than GTM).

When i referenced that website posted earlier in this thread about the 370z only making 36X hp, he said there was definitely something wrong with the tuning and parts.

Like i said, at the end of the day, i have to trust these people with my car and i have been promised over 400 whp which is what i wanted. I didnt really want to daily a monster to begin with.

it sounds cool tho.

But yeah, youre not going to get that kind of power.. BUT.. you'll like it man.
Just as lng as you didnt pay out the @ss for the set up.. and the install will be great, j tran is awesome from what ive read and seen over time here.

you'll have a tiny amount of room to grow, just nothing like it would be if it was a turbo. also, you will be in positive pressure through your engine always.. whereas turbo can see vacuum if the foot stays out of it.. thats why i went single turbo.. who am i racing? no one lol.
turbo lag is no issue fer me when i can keep it under 3k and stay out of boost. .

good luck, enjoy, and stop thinking about numbers on a graph and youll be happy.
Besides if you DID actually already order and pay, then youre certainly stuck w it now anyways.

WHAT? Where are you getting this information from? A supercharger has a BPV that is open at idle, diverting the air (from the charge pipe before the TB) back in to the s/c intake. How would you have positive manifold pressure if the TB is closed, and the BPV is open?

Same thing goes for the turbo comment…you can drive it at 5500rpm and be in complete vacuum.

Ugh
.yes I understand.
In a simplified conversation.like this was..the point is he will be in boost far more than a turbo car.. wasn't a judgement.. just a mention..
I certainly don't want to start details of the turbo vs sc all over again.in.his thread..so was just a basic mention w out a ton of data or examples lol.

No, he won't be in boost any more than with a turbo car. It is all load dependent. With a supercharger (as with a turbo) you can drive the car at 5500rpm and still be in vacuum.

This has nothing to do with S/C vs. Turbo.

with small enough pulleys, you can make 500whp no problem with that V3 unit.
