I have heard of weak batteries causing issues before with signals being sent, but generally weak batteries are associated with weak cranking power. It would be easy to rule out; just borrow a friend's battery from well damn near anything that has a bigger battery and see what happens.
If you give it gas can you hold idle or possibly drive around?
Have you put a trickle charger on it or checked voltages?
Although not likely the issue, diagnosing a weak battery is real easy. It wouldn't be a bad time to go learn up on what to do. Simple and easy to learn, yet applicable to all vehicles.

I emailed vortech to ask if there is a way to diagnose a shorted SS box. After reading some old threads it kinda sounds like my SS box could have **** the bed. However, if those cases they could get their cars to start....
