Going to buy a used supercharger
So I have decided that buying a used supercharger is the best option. I have seen the average used supercharger going for around 2k, which seems very reasonable to me. I have been looking on ebay and on here on ones that were sold in the past. My question is, how reliable is a used supercharger? In general, if it was well taken care of, it should be fine right?
Also, I don't know anything about engines, but I have been reading if you buy a supercharger, you need a fuel and engine management system? Is that necessary? If I buy a supercharger, what else do I need to buy with it to make it run safely on my engine?
Also, would just buying a supercharger make sense? I mean if I did not buy an exhaust, intake, and stuff like that with it would it still make sense to buy a supercharger?

You seriously need to do some more research. You're not even ready to ask "questions" yet..

I'll be diplomatic..your crazy.
Buying a used supercharger on e-bay for 200 bucks,oh boy...
Obviously you are not a DIY car guy.You won't evenknow what you are
buying when you get it.What parts are missing etc.Bub,there is more to
installing, making a supercharger work than what meets the eye. Now,unless
you buy one of those wizz-bang electric superchargers!
From your past posts, and I don't mean any disrespect,it appears that you
want to go the cheapest route to get a maximum power increase.Am I right?
Maybe just go the bottle route/nitrous?Or fabricate a jet pack(kidding!).
Unfortunately,it does'nt work that way.Listen to the advice from this community.
Thats why we are here.If not,you go ahead and buy this bargain SC,your next post
will be,"car won't start/cuts out/oil leaking from the SC...what to do"?

The main issue to a used supercharger is that there is little way to insure that all the parts that should come with the kit are in fact present. Missing parts will delay the installation indefinitely.
Rebuilding the SC itself, which you should do when buying used, is a must and is not expensive. You would never otherwise be sure of its condition. It is not hard to do provided that you 1- know how to do it and 2- have decent tools including a press. Takes me about two hours.
Good luck.
