Default SI Upgrade with 2.87 Pulley

Finally have some results from my upgrade. It was only tuned to 5600rpms so far, he gave me a call to see what i wanted to do because of the power this was making. We decided on a boost limiter valve that they had in stock already and are currently welding it in. Gonna try to keep the power that it is making now with out going over to much. At 5600 the car saw 11psi. Gonna keep the boost to around 10-11psi. The final tune isnt finished yet, but the numbers as of right now is 422/398. This is just a little teaser..

Just keep running it up higher. The torque is right at 400 and you are at peak tq range. You can see it level off already on that dyno so it will only fall further as the rpms go up thus no additional torque will be made. Torque will fall off and then there is less stress on the rods. HP means nothing, it's only a calculation based off of torque. I wouldn't limit the boost with an expensive boost leak type system (i think they are around 200$ or so).

Torque is what will do the damage. "horsepower sells cars. torque wins races" -Carol Shelby

Im gonna have to call tomorrow and see if the BLV was already installed or not. If not, i may ask him to leave it off and finish the tune like it is. Other wise im pretty happy so far for the results.

I would. They can also pull back timing a couple degrees which will lower that power. In all honesty if it didn't let go with 400tq then it won't let go at higher rpm because the tq will drop off anyways.

Those are awesome numbers especially on a mustange dyno. So you are probably at about 13-14psi at 6600rpm. Congrats! I bet its a beast!!

I love my SI wheel. I'm running a 3.25 pulley and i'm getting 11psi at 6600 currently at 437/384 on a dynojet. My tuner is against me going to a smaller pulley at this point on my stock block. I want to push it further but i'm scared to bust the block!

Reading these threads make me jealous. I'm hopefully going to have a vortech on my Z by this Summer.

LOVE the numbers you got so far though!

this was my 2.87 V3 SI from back in 2009 with pretty soft timing compared to what i would run today. Pretty much same graph as jet mech, just a different dyno..

That was forever ago.

Nice numbers. Like binder said don't bother with a boost limiter and just pull a little timing if needed up top. As long as you're under 400wtq and not knocking you're as good as it gets for stock block.

Well i just got an email saying that they were pretty much finished with the dyno tune..But they only took it up to 5900rpms. Said i didnt have enough tire for the power when tuning. Gonna find out tomorrow to see what the deal is. If i have to i will take out some drag radials to their shop. The numbers are at 430/390 11.4psi right now.

Very nice numbers. Can't wait to see what this makes at redline, especially on the heartbreaker mustang dyno!

Thank you for the research you've done with your car

How's it running by the way and how many miles do you currently have?

If you had the chance to do it all over again, what horsepower/torque would you have shoot for?

Str8dum1,

As I have your blower now, I got it dyno'd last week and on a dynapack it appears to be making (without a retune on a 3:13): 450rwhp / 400lb/ft.

Looking to get it retuned as the original tune was done with the stock cats in the car. Now been changed to Berk test pipes.
