OP, Are you and your girlfriend smelling this from outside the car or from inside the car while in motion? Like binder stated, I'm doubtful cats would resolve an odor issue inside the car if it's happening while cruising. Do you have a vented catch can set up or a breather filter on your motor?

since there are quite a few E85 stations in the Grand Rapids area, run that and not worry about exhaust smell again.

Its almost nuts you are not on E85 already

The only thing to watch out when mounting them close to a turbo is the heat produced by the turbo will pre-maturely break down the internals on the catalytic.
