Motor Rebuild Now I Know
Old dirt but here it is, finally. Back in 2007 I had my stock engine swapped out for a built engine with a JWT 530 twin turbo kit. I bought the engine from a member here who had it built by a shop in El Cajon, CA who I will not name but I suspect people will know.
The motor finaly had a failure at 77K miles, a bolt had some how got into the intake manifold and into a intake valve for number 5 cylinder. Bent valve, valve hit piston and so forth.
Where did the bolt come from? Was it sitting in there for 5 years?
The tear down revealed that the build I had purchased included work and parts that were not present, the heads were not ported and polished, stock head gaskets, stock fasteners on everything. Basically only aftermarket parts were the pistons and rods and the turbo kit.

Sorry to hear. May I ask how much power you were making?
On the bright side, 77k miles has got to be one of the highest mileage built engines on this forum.

Just found the cams were stock too. The pistons were Arias but not the ED type they were supposed to be.
Part of the deal on buying this engine was that the shop that built it had to do the swap. It was in the middle of this process that the implosion of the shop occurred. I think that maybe the engine I got was not the same I was buying or both of got hosed on the same engine. Allegedly the original owner paid 20K for this build and install.

I never had the car dyno tested, the shop tuned it for 11 psi which is what I kept it at. The original owner told me it was 400 rwhp. Originally the engine came out of a 35FX infinity with a stock Auto transmission. The owner of the shop was bugging me to spend more and install the 700BB turbos. I just wanted it done and out of there.
