Default Having a new transmission installed at a Nissan dealer and had a question..

I upgraded to a JWT clutch kit (pressure plate and disc) about 25,000 mles ago. I am having a new transmission installed to get rid of a third gear syncro issue. They just called me and suggested that I replace the clutch disc but said the JWT pressure plate was fine. By just replacing the JWT clutch it'self with a stock Nissan one will I lose much? They said the clutch disc was $110 and I'm having them do the throwout bearing also. Will I still have the same clamping force just maybe losing a bit of the upgraded clutch disc that may come with the JWT?

A little off topic, are you paying out of pocket for the new transmission?

Sort of, I'm having the valve covers replaced also as they are leaking oil. Total bill is just under $4000 and I think the valve covers are about $700 for the valve covers themselves. Hope this helps if you were curious about a price.

rumor mill was that the JWT was just an upgrade PP to give more clamp with stock disc.

Can you not get a disc from JWT in a timely fashion?

Yea I was pretty much advised to change out the clutch disc when they had the transmission out on Monday and they had one in stock so I went ahead and had them do it. Just got it back today, actually feels much better and engages sooner but still a tad stiff as it was before. Good to hear that the JWT may use a stock type disc as this may of been a win win for me. Transmission shifts a little stiff but I'm sure it just needs to break in a bit. I had an extended warranty so the total out of pocket for me was $337 and $200 of that was my warranty deductible. The total repair bill including new valve covers to fix the oil leak was $3659
