Default Custom G35 JWT 850bb Engine Re-Build Results

Well after several months, the rebuild of my car is finally over and I could not be happier. A little back story, this is my second G35 as I had a 2004 Vortech Supercharged G35 that made a little over 400 HP. Ended up trading on that car for Porsche 996 but always wanted to rebuild the car for more power. Well that chance came a little over 6 months ago when I saw a built 2007 G35 with a JWT 850bb kit being sold for great price. The car had previously been built by Forged Performance and had made 613 HP at 18.5 psi. Well I bit the bullet and bought it sight unseen from another state. The day I received the car it was dynoed on a dynojet and made 568HP /498 TQ at 19 PSI. All was good till I noticed that at after driving a little and engine temps were warmed up the oil pressure would continue to drop. Well after a trip to a local shop and us dropping the oil pan and seeing bearing material we new that a new build was next.

Not sure whether the previous owner knew but there was nothing I could do but rebuild. My goals were originally build it same as before but make a couple changes. Once the engine was torn apart I was lucky and all that was needed was a new crank, block, and bearings. The heads had not been damaged so we just cleaned them up. Once the turbos were out we noticed that there was some oil residue so we sent the turbos out to be rebuilt. While at the turbo shop, they called and gave me the option to bore them out and upgrade the wheel. I dont know the specifics but I went ahead and figured lets see what it does. Along the way we decided to add a catch can, delete the factory oil warmer, and add Setrab 25 oil cooler, upgrade the BOV from the a Greddy RS to a Tial Q 50mm BOV, and change the engine management system from the HKS V-Pro to the Haltech system.

Here is the build sheet:

DLS Iridium 6.3 Components including Passive Crossovers
Image Dynamics IDQ-10 Subwoofer
4080 G35 Subwoofer Enclosure

After being being tuned she made 500 HP at 11 PSI for low boost and final numbers we were able to make was 727HP / 574 TQ at 16.5 PSI. All this was with 110 race gas. We could not get it to boost past 16.5 PSI. We believe it has to do with the wastegates, but we could not adjust them. I really think the car is capable 800+ HP if I can up the boost. I am quite satisfied with the numbers as I am making 125 more HP at basically 2 PSI less boost.

Are you dynoing it with ice bags on the intake? I would like to know more about the turbo upgrade, I thought the housings were already bored and stuffed to fit the 3071s. I thought billet wheels would be the only upgrade we could do to the 850bb kit? Looks like in the end you have a great car

Thanks for the comments. Ok I called the turbo shop that did they the work and they said the turbos were 3071's and they bored them out further to 3076's. The only thing left would have been going to the billet wheel which in hindsight I wish I would have done. Also forgot to mention I added the Injected performance billet main girdle.

Yeah those were ice bags on the plenum and intake pipe. That was towards the end of the dyno session and the car was pretty hot so we used the ice to try and cool down the engine some.

Dynoing in 3rd gear? Was that just a shake down run?
