Another built motor Vortech dreamer thread.
So, after i got my results of my v2 with an SI upgrade and 2.87 pulley, the only question in my mind was how long is this gonna last. At 5600 rpm i crept over 430hp and 403trq. We were able to dial it down a little bit and ended up getting around 436/390 11 psi at redline. I added a BLV to my setup just to help bring the boost down. The only power adders i had at the time were test pipes and some cheap dual exhaust. Since im over here in Afghanistan, im now financially able to build the engine.
Im having the engine built in Charlotte by CIN Motorsports. They have taken care of me in the past and are gonna be taking this project on for me. I picked this car up last Feb. or March of 2012. It was just a rolling shell with pretty much nothing in it. Took about a month to get everything together for it and get it up and running. The longest part was just waiting for the SI upgrade to come back from Vortech. As soon as i got my supercharger back, i found out a week later i was coming overseas and they wanted me to be ready in about a weeks time. I rushed everything back together, but was still able to get it good enough to start up and make a few passes back and forth before i had a flat bed come and get it. I had it sent to CIN to have a few parts installed and for a new tune.
Last October i was able to take the keys to it, only i had to catch a flight the same day back overseas. I was just happy it was in my driveway complete for now. Since then ive been going over builds with different shops and seeing which way i wanted to go. I pretty much bought everything i need for this build just waiting for the parts to arrive at the house. CIN already has an engine at their shop they are sending out right now to the maching shop. After my parts come in, im getting someone to take my car to them and get everything put together. Im trying to get everything together for zdayz this year, but as builds go, nothing is ever certain.
Here are the supporting parts for this build so far, still might have to buy a few more things...
1000 ID injectors, 850 DW injectors wasn't enough
aam basic return kit
cosworth fuel rails
custom fuel lines -8 feed -6 return
CJM twin pump, DW 320 fuel pump also wasn't enough, tried the 480 walboro and still not enough..
PMAS Maf, New maf GT was maxing out
Haltec plug and play
twin disk carbonetic clutch
dc shorty headers
tomei test pipes
tomei cat back and y pipe
CP 8:1 compression pistons
eagle rods
ARP main studs
ACL bearings
micro polished crank
balanced/blue printed
bored/honed
L 19 head studs
billet main girdle
JWT C2 cams
JWT Valve spings
Heads reworked with valve job
fluid damper pulley
Bigger intercooler
oil cooler
custom made piping to eliminate couplers
custom intake that feeds the blower
ATI crank pulley
aftermarket pulleys to replace the vortech ones
custom catch can
As far as what power im hoping to see, well im not really sure. Mostly doing this to help out the reliability with me seeing more than 400trq. My previous numbers were on a mustang dyno if anyone wants to know.
Im sure there maybe more that im forgetting. Here are a couple of pics of the car when i got her to now. Its Lowered on Stance GR+ coils with Hotchkis sways and spl endlinks.

Yup, im pretty excited to see how this turns out. As far as compression goes, its what they reccomended so thats what im going with..I guess i could always trade up my vortech down the road for turbos if im not happy.

Nice... Love to see Vortech builds...
And when it comes to hunting for power with a Vortech, it's always for more torque, to try and match the turbo guys...
What pulley combo (jackshaft, as well as cog combo) will you be running? Will you overspin the blower?

Planning on running the 2.87 pulley/SI impeller with the stock cogs. Not really looking for a HP beast...gonna rev it till it stops making power or fuel becomes an issue. Im pretty drained on funds right now as it is from this and im sure i will be buying more stuff.

Looks good... I am going thru a vortech build at the moment as well, will be sending my car to Dynosty here in a cpl weeks for the install. I went with a CR of 9.5:1, I heard that the lower the CR on a SC the more 'doggy' it will feel at the low to midrange rpm's but it will be safer on the block and you, as you said, will have the ability to go turbo in the future if you want on a safe set up for it.
One thing I did not see on your build is a new crank pulley... You may want to check out Fluidampr or ATI on that. They are a good idea on a FI build and are slightly larger than the stock pulley so they will also help spin your blower faster if that is something you want to do... I went with the ATI and am also sending my blower to 928 motorsports for a complete rebuild of the bearings and impeller which will put it close to the T trim in terms of outflow.
Link to 928 motorsports so you can check out there stuff: http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...h_impeller.php
Good luck with your build and stay safe out there in the 'Stan'! ...

editing out that list right now, i knew there were a couple things i missed. The fluid damper pulley is already on order..
Thanks, its not to bad out here. Stays pretty chill, only one incident in the last 9 months. Good luck on your build, i thought about the 928 impeller, but i cheaped out and went the SI route. I aleady made pretty good gains by just adding the SI impeller to my previous set up.

Cool, good to hear things are lightening up over there a tad.
How about your intercooler? Did you upgrade that when you did the SI? I am going slightly larger there as well as not to be limited by the small Vortech one.

Looking at 2 and trying to decide between them
One is 12.5" X 22" X 3.5" http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...rcooler++760HP
The other is 10.5" X 22" X 4.5" http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...rcooler++860HP
Both are under $350.00 and I hear Treadstones are really good IC's for the price... Just trying to decide which would be better for the SC set up with the least amount of modding to the crash bar.

Well they already have an engine being built for me. They wanted to get it mostly completed before the z got there. So hopefully that speeds this up some. I don't want to jinx it, but Bobby said he's looking for it to be done pretty soon. I should have it back in time for z days. Atleast im hoping I get it back for z days, im planning my vacation to include it from Afghanistan.
