Default Built motor with stock ecu

I have a built motor with a stock Ecuador that I'm breaking in, currently at 1500miles however it threw a code for over-advanced cam position timing yesterday... Is this a sign that I need to install a stand alone ecu to better control my low compression 8.5:1 build. im running stock Injectors and ecu at the moment? Any recommendations for me??? I parked the car so there wouldn't be any further damage done.

did you get a reflash? I would imagine with the change in compression the timing would need to be adjusted.

Unusual that it would throw cam codes. I think there actually might be an issue with your cam actuators or sensors...

ya, you should not get any codes, built or not, esp a cam code. I broke in my new motor with stock injectors, stock ecu for a couple weeks.

Could be a sensor failing. I would check to see if the cam position is actually advancing like it should. If not it could be the actuator not working or the sensor just going bad.
