I've never looked too deep into the science behind it... Most of that is just stuff I've read etc... But I am pretty sure when it gets worse the car always feels slower to me.

Engine purrs on cold start (surprisingly so) with nothing but a slight belt or pulley squeak. Even quieter than my g which has noisy injectors. Bear in mind, this car hardly ever saw boost. The original owner babied the crap out of it since it was a DD and his only ride. It also appears he changed the oil and kept it topped off well; dipstick and heads (looking thru the oil cap hole with LED pen light) are very silver/shiny. No browning/staining going on.

Did he run a catch can/proper crankcase pressure release?

No catch can... although he was planning to as there's an unopened catch can kit in the trunk. The one time I hit boost a huge plume of smoke came out of the exhaust when I let off. I'm hoping the catch can / ventilation and proper tuning will resolve that and it's not more serious.

Compression was 145 - 155 across all cylinders...she still has life! plugs looked like something aweful - White semi-eroded tips and fouled bottom area, and a couple inches of oil in #6 tube. Hoping all the oil is coming from the plenum/PCV system and not the valve guides.

Leaky valve cover around the sparkplug is my guess
