ams crank pulley with vortech
I was wondering does anybody have a ams light weight pulley with there vortech ?? not underdrive I ready know it would lose boost, I had one on my other z for 70k no problems and the new owner said its still going strong even though ever one said It was going to mess something up never did rev'd alot faster lost about 5-6lbs .
you didnt loose 5-6 pounds going to a lightweight pulley, the stock pulley weighs 6 pounds and you where hurting the engine guaranteed if you tore the engine down you would see accelerated bearing wear. how accelerated depends how much power you where making it, simply saying "oh it was fine and still running" without tearing the engine down is a false statement. more power you make the quicker a issue will arise.
any faster revs you noticed was either free revving which absolutely dosnt matter since the car dosnt move in free rev, or its your brain making you think it revved faster because you spent money which has been covered a couple times and is a pretty common psychological action when modifying something "feeling" that it provided a positive benefit where actual testing shows no difference or worse performance.
to answer your question theres no reason it shouldnt work but its highly ill advised.

The weight loss was 5lbs I have a stock pulley laying around and its slightly under 7lbs and the ams pulley weight is 1.70. I think if it did damage anything it would have messed up by now , I installed it at around 100k and sold it at around 173k and now has over 200k the car made 291 and 273lbs on the dyno and I never babied it lol . It felt like it went thru rpm's quicker but maybe it didnt . I just want to make max power on my vortech with 3.3 stock pulley for now
He does not get it.......

That is the Lowest Hp I've seen for any 350z with a Vortech kit.
VQ35DE Vortech Kit's makes 325-330whp with 3.33 pulley "out of the Box" on a totally stock "z" and no tuning.
You do have a lot of miles.

So far only 7k miles with vortech and ams pulleys but I've had the pulleys on for about 15k miles. My car makes 425whp with a 2.87 pulley and has 83k on the odometer if that helps.
I was just asking if any 1 did have one with the vortech and ran into problems .

Running 360whp for 2800miles with the ams pulley but I will be swapping to the fluidampr dampened pulley for safety and to spin my blower faster. As stated can't tell if its wearing the crank bearings unless you strip it before and after.
