Default What yal think of this kit? and safe to turbo at 150k miles?

I'm planning on turboing my car next summer when I get out of college. My Z has 150K miles on it so I'm considering a rebuild of the engine but not sure if it needs it as she uses no oil to speak of maybe a quart every 6000 miles. I'm looking at this kit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/03-06-350z-Z33-vq35-60-1-complete-turbo-kit-with-turbonetics-BOLT-ON-450HP-/221308599481?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A350Z&hash=item3387053cb9&vxp=mtr
I'm only planning on 375 to 400 whp so nothing crazy. I like this kit as they use a brandname turbo ect. I have injectors and a fuel pump picked out I plan on doing most of the install myself with the exeption of running the oil lines to the turbo and of course the tune. Overall I'm looking at about $4k in total for this set up.
What yal think?
Thanks David

My 88 thunderbird is turbo'd and has over 100k so I dont see what the issue would be unless I beat the hell out of my Z once I turbo'd it which I won't honestly I just want it for the sound/highway pulls

first off why r u looking on ebay for a turbo kit, that is asking for **** quality. these engines r good but boosting at that high of mileage could turn out to b an issue. first off do a compression test to see if ur engine is good for more abuse. and look into boosted performance turbo kit cause the kit has name brand quality parts like tial, precision...etc, and expect it to cost around 10 grand for the kit, gauges, clutch/flywheel, an oil change and random little things that could happen....if ur gonna rebuild ur engine u need another 2-7 grand depending on if u do it urself and just pay to machine it or have a quality shop do it but these prices are still if u do all the labor urself minus machine shop of course

as long as you get it tuned. ive been boosted for over 90,000 miles now. i just dont beat on it everyday. if its tuned and has safety measures in the tune you should be fine. utec has built in over boost.

I'd rather take my chances with a cheaper kit I mean as long as the turbo and waste gate are good why spend more then I need to on part?

wasnt aware that the turbos that godspeed imports from china and sticks their name on was "name brand" now. that or you dont have very good eye sight and the fact that godspeed project is plastered everywhere on the ad.

i would like to see you do it for 4k too since even the guy who actually did use a crap ebay kit ended up spending more then that iirc.

because the turbo and wastegate arnt good. they are cheap replicas with a turbonetics cover. you will be sorely disappointed when you order the turbo and see it isnt balanced like a real turbonetics. not that turbonetics is a quality turbo anyway they are entry level turbos anymore compared to what BW, garrett and precision offer but at least a real one wont blow up.

Godspeed is relitivly reputible I can't imagine the risking their name by putting turbonetics labels on shizzy turbos

If ur gonna take ur chances then why did u ask if it was worth it. We suggest what u need and u r just gonna take ur chances so go ahead and when ur turbo blows, just buy a quality one. Just hope it doesn't blow parts into ur engine. **** happens all the time

what I ment is Ill prolly replace the turbo with a garret if it turns out to be a fake but the other parts of the kit should be fine? IC piping is just metal tube?

how are they in any way "reputable" they are cheap china crap like any of the other company's its one thing intercooler, piping and the like static pieces that are hard to screw up the actual moving pieces are completely different. one of the large factors in why the turbos are cheap is because they dont balancing them. not good for something spinning 78000 rpms or more. they are no different then megan or ssautochrome.

you definitely need to redefine your definition of both reputable and quality. people like you are why alot of the people here who actually HAVE boosted cars are *******s. you post asking questions then absolutely ignore what they say. if your going to ignore us dont ****ing post then save us the frustration and the forum the bandwidth.

I like my tread stone inter cooler but I guess static parts are good as long as they line up. Vaccine leaks can reak havoc in tunes and giv u lil problems. So mayb also upgrade the couplers and hose clamps but I don't want to b involved on a build that could fail.

after the cost of the garrett your going to be way over 4k, and then the wastegate too, as well as trying to get everything to seal correctly since that stuff is usually warped you might as well go with sashas basic 6266 midmount kit for 5k. you will be just a couple hundred more and everything will be quality
