Obviously, I didn't grow up on the streets. I'm 18 not 24 and maybe It will.. Moving things tend to break. I think there's a better chance at the engine staying alive longer with the forged rods rated for 600whp instead of 12 year old ones. I'm going to have some people look at the my situation first hand first and go from there

That's a little more sensible.

Add the numbers I initially stated my friend I said I was planning on spending 2000, another 4-6k
If I decide to get the vortech and then tuning. You have been no help at all besides for the doubt.

You're still low though. Last I checked:

2+6 < 10

(unless you're doing some crazy TH math where x=x)

Factor in the tuning. I've read over 100's of threads running the vortech on stock blocks with no problems. Shouldn't the rods and pistons make it even more reliable. I don't see where im going wrong on this.

The only place you are going wrong is not planning for the worst. Even an over-build can fail.

Make sure you have the funds/time/resources in case things do go wrong.

Because he's 18 and this is the perfect time to do stupid things like we all did when we were 18 - 25... LOL

With the power goal you've set yourself it be easier to go with a supercharger. You can go top mount like Stillen or Snail type like Vortech...Cheaper and for the most part reliable.

If you're still in for the Turbo option I know Threadstone Performance took over the Turbonetics kit and fixed all the previous issues with them. Pretty good kit for the money and the cheapest I would trust... avoid ebay kits like the plague.

Next I'd finally go with Boosted Performance which is what I bought. Will end up costing a bit more than all of the above but it will be the last kit you'll ever need as it's upgradeability is unmatched.

I know plenty of people with Boosted 350z and G35 well over 100,000 miles with no issues... the most important thing above all is the Tune. The tune is the difference from being reliable to blowing up your motor no matter what whp your in. A great tune can run a stock block well over 500whp with no issues. A mediocre tune can blow your engine at 400whp and even below... it all about the tune and maintenance.

With this current list expect to spend from $6,000 to $10,00 depending on how much of the install you do and which supporting mods you buy.

what are you going to do for fuel? you need injectors, new fuel pump. here is a kit that includes all the fuel components.... and i guarantee it is alot better than the one you listed

Finally thank you for the positive feedback. The post about the doing stupid things young while you can is what I was trying to get across haha. I probably won't have a chance at this again for the next 10-20 years. I believe the name of the shop is called slowmotion in Columbus for the tuning. I will keep you guys updated.

OP, what car are you coming from??? What have you been driving since you got your license only 2 years ago??? Are you ready for a RWD car with 400+ hp??? I fell in love with high-hp cars when I was your age too, but I was taught to be extremely responsible with them since my parents didn't have the $$$ to give me for my cars. Everything always came out of MY wallet.

Another member made a very good point mentioning what will happen with your buddy in the car and a Mustang pulls up next to you at a red light. Are you going to back down if he starts revving his motor??? No, you won't, neither will your buddy- he'll keep egging you on to race. You'll either end up showing off, wrapping your (I mean Mom and Dad's) Z around a pole (Thanksgiving, anyone???) or seriously injuring yourself or another. Why would the approx 300hp not suffice??? Don't you think you should learn the vehicle you want to mod before you go crazy with it??? Are your parents just handing you money rather than throwing it into the fireplace??? Probably not. I'm not trying to hate on you, but do your parents know what your plans are for this car?
