Default Any issues with checking compression with the intake manifold off?

I am putting the vortech back in my car. I had to replace my injectors and have the intake manifold off. To make things easier I was going to check the compression with the intake manifold off as to make it easier to access the spark plug holes. Will this damage anything? Has anyone ever done it this way?
