I called 6-7 different shops around the country and asked them "their opion on not using a torque plate on a aluminium open deck motor." It was about i got more its not necessary than to do it. Thanks every one for thier imputs!

Monday my block will be getting bored out.

 

I rented one out before I had dynosty do my short block. I got it and there was marring all over the torque plate. I called and emailed FP about it (because the machine shop refused to use it), and they never got back to me until it was time to charge me for keeping it too long. I got mad at the guy, and they offered a refund. I told them to keep the money and sent it back.

 

I wouldn't do it without a torque plate. But that's just me.

 

I'll call forged Monday and see if they have one I can rent for a reasonable price. If they do ill use one but if not ill press on with out.
