Default AEM afr gauge reading erratic then full lean?!?

Any ideas guys,

My afr gauge has been quite erratic for a while but this morning (cold and foggy) I was driving to work slowly and noticed the gauge reading full lean >17. The car has 3.5 bar fuel pressure and runs/pulls fine?

My thoughts are the sensor has died? I stopped at a gas station and filled up and when I started the car it came back to life but then slowly went full lean again with in a minute or so?

This happened to anyone else?

Thanks.

Have you dont the sensor test? I have this exact problem and aem told me its 50 bucks to ship the gauge out for them to test and repair it. Repair has no guarantee but has the same inspection as new ones. At this point im not sure what i want to do as of yet.

I do think its the sensor so ill look at getting a replacement. Just wanted some guidance as I'm still driving the car. Im 99% the AFR is NOT what the gauge is showing.

Mine does the same thing. I usually log with the laptop and haven't been worried about it enough to fix it. Also with my new exhaust, it doesn't have an extra o2 bung anyways. I'm think it's the sensor anyways. I'll get around to putting a new bung and sensor in soon.

Yeah, a sensor will usually read lean when it fails.

Just for future references, i had the same problem as op, it turned out it was the sensor. Swap it out for a new one and problem solved.

Sorry to bump a somewhat old thread. If you're running your W/B sensor into the test pipes, would that accelerate the sensor going bad? If so, would a defouler help prevent that? My Innovative W/B is also reading erratic, so I'm naturally curious if running it with the supplied bung into test pipes would've caused it to foul?

I don't think you want to run a de-fouler on your wide-band O2, you're not going to get accurate readings…
