Default cog pulley, and 2.87 pulley help please it's bound up

Ok folks so i bought a vortech v-3 supercharger did the entire install when i went to start the car neither the cog pulley or the 2.87 pulley were spinning(neither did the stock pulley when i swapped them out to see if it was the 2.87)the belt for the 2.87 pullet was spinning but the pulley itself was bound up and would not spin, anybody have any answers for me? Its a 2003 350z vq35de and a brand new supercharger kit.

thanks, Paul

Do the pulleys spin when there are no serpentine or cog belts? Also, some pics may help...

So does the main serpentine belt spin but the small cog belt behind the bracket not? Could be missing the jackshaft key that slides into the back. More info and some pictures would help.

Ended up being that the 2.87 pulley was binding up against the front of the jack shaft. In other words the 2.87 pulley was improperly machined about 50 thousandths, enough to bind it solid when the jack shaft bolts were tight. Machined the back of the inside pulley, and it works beautifully and completely free. Stock pulley was the guide to issue as that fit fine.

Yeah, you have to machine the 2.87 pulley to clear the jackshaft. Glad you got it sorted out.

So I take it any pulley for the vortech kit needs to be machined? Even if I move up in size?

Just Chamfer the front edge of of the JackShaft Housing in till you have plenty of clearance.

No, not any.

The 2.87 and 2.62 pulley have an interference problem for sure.

All of the Serp pullies were designed before the 350z and G35 kit and are standard for most Blower setups. Why Vortech has not address this issue is beyond me. A simple revision to the Jackshaft Housing is all that it would take. Whom ever at Vortech designed it in the first place only took into account the 3.33 and 3.12 pulley that come with the standard and revup motors. Perhaps they never wanted anyone to run a smaller pulley than the 3.12, who knows.

thaks i got this coverd but now i have a new problem . i have a stock set up of 34 32 cog pulleys . i upgraded the 32 to a 28. the 70 tooth i have is way to big and the tensioner touches the other pulley i have it tightened down so much. so what i need is a smaller belt. vortech doesnt seem to make one and i cant find one anywhere. my dyno day is wed and im worried i wont be able to use this cog set up
