Pics of stock pistons and rods?
Does anyone have pics of the stock pistons and rods from a VQ? Specs would be nice too. I am just curious, I have never seen them and all this talk about 'How well does the VQ handle boost' has got me thinking.
I have seen a couple pics posted on ATI threads......but they were pictures of melted piston/rod assemblies.....
I have not seen any pics of other than after market parts ( sgp racing )

Hey etx,
Is that the visual info you require??
That works. It's hard to see the rod, it looks like a decent design. Thanks for posting that Jeff. I am mainly concerned about the location of the ringlands on the piston. It looks like a strong piston, as far as stock goes. That puts my mind at ease!

Those rods look pretty solid around the crank journals.....i think the problem may come at the shoulder where the jounal joins the rod extension up to the piston.

Then paste that into an image viewer (Irfan View is a very good one). The screenshot gets saved to the clipboard, so it won't be a separate file. You will need to use CNTRL_V or use the EDIT, PASTE drop down.
Use the image viewer to resize and crop as necessary and then save as a jpeg.
Post the jpeg.
Also, post the page number of the manual so I can check it out when I get home (otherwise I'll have to search the manual for the info
). If you haven't posted a sceenshot by the time I get there I can do it since I have a manual and an image viewer.Later,
D'oh!
Jeff@performance, do you have another picture of the inside of the piston? Perhaps one that is IN FOCUS
?Thanks,
D'oh!

Really, I took about 6 pictures and that was the best. My camera looks like a VCR to me. BUT, in the name of learning something new, maybe I'll play with some of the buttons and see what I get.
Jeff,
Up that close you probably should use the Macro mode. On most cameras this is engaged with a button, or menu selection, with an icon that looks like a flower.
Either do that, or back up and use the zoom instead.
