Tial BOV question for Supercharged PPL
Which spring are you guys using for your vortech or procharger set ups? I have a tial 50mm bov
I am currently running the 3 psi spring which is recommended by Tial on their website for superchargers. However it's quite loud at idle and under light load.I've gone on vette websites etc. Seems those guys running vortech and procharger set ups are also using the 3 psi spring also. Or go a bit heavier so it doesn't stay open as much under vacuum.
I realize it also says on Tials website that you're supposed to use the rated spring for your vacuum at idle but I'm pretty sure that's for a turbo application.
I just want to know what spring 350z guys are using.
Thank you

When I initially tried out the Q to see if it worked fine I ran a few different springs. The supercharger specific spring was the only 1 that closed when it needed to. Either get a bypass valve to quiet it down or you should have got the QR version that is recirculating. You likely are not at the psi that something like the Q is even nessisary so you can prob swap to any bpv if the noise is an issue

Just installed mine yesterday....crazy loud at idle, especially on cold start and reminds me of my old RFL bov I had on my S14 when it blows off.....I will take the loud idle over the vortech maxflow whistle any day. Also got rid of the flutter dump I was getting with the vortech bpv.
I run a forge 50mm and I hate it. Someday I'll build a secondary throttle for the supercharger inlet to quiet things down and get some gas mileage back on the freeway. For now I'm just going to wrap it in foam and hope it helps.
