No I get you wouldn't want to put unnecessary miles on the car. My Z has been in the family since 2004, I remember when it came off the lot. But I mean going down to the local meet and doing a little shock and awe is nice. Especially if you can make some money out of it. I wanted to shoot for 9's with my 7175 setup, but I'm quite content with having a ~600whp car for the canyons. I just can't imagine not going and blasting around the streets in a Z, makes me sad lol.
Lol Funny, I agree there's no such thing as too much power but if it ain't going to the ground it's useless. You'll never experience all that power at full throttle if your spinning...

So all this talk about taking the car out and what happens I did!! Jus got back in, you Kno it's a nice night and I still had the street wheels on it from last weekend. Jus went for a cruise, had a few beers with someone and came back home. I definitely got in the pedal and it's insane!!
I agree that taking it to meets and going fishing is not a bad thing. If I can make a few dollars while I'm out I wouldn't mind that. You Kno what's funny, every time I'm coming back from the track, I've got the car on slicks loaded on the trailer and I'm thirsty looking to find someone to race. I tried setting up a few grudge races, and even found this mustang that's running 9.70 in the 1/4 who wants to go. But I have no seat time, and going up against them with that being a seasoned driver and their best pass I still have the disadvantage.

Very tempting, but then again I'm against street racing. That show street outlaws makes it look so simple. Those guys are full of ****!! No way can you do what they do and get away with it. I remember taking my car out after working on the manifold early one morning in this spot I go to make test runs and still got caught. Luckily it was Easter weekend and I knew the cop!! I'm not in to showing off tho, cause you get nothing out of that. I believe in karma, and that's the time **** would go the worst for me..

with regards to S.O. The show itself is staged and is the races take place on a closed road. The races (matches) however are real. Etown and Atco FTW

I don't Kno about those races being real, I think they're staged as well. I Kno the locations they race are all sanctioned. There's no way you could drag out that many Davey lights on a random road and get away with it!!

But to make a comparison, we all Kno GTR's and Monday night that dude got raped by a extended cab pick up?? Not even close, even for a stock GTR. And I didn't think it was possible to effff up a launch in any GTR???. I call bs on all those match ups, but still a great show!!!

Yeah i had to research that for sure. The owner Tuan is on GTRlife and even said his setup is really no match for those guys but who knows. Could have been driver eff up. In general they have to be running 9's and lower for sure. That cab is running like 1200 HP i think

I heard chief say they were running 5 second cars, and that's 1/8 mile. Doing the conversion that's a 7 second 1/4 mile. And they're hooking that much power on the street?? I Kno they're fast, but have you really ever seen them lose??

Watever, it's still entertaining...

I know a guy who was on that show last season, his mustang is over 2000rwhp and carries the front end on just a 28x10.5". They fully prep the street to the point it might as well be the track, but from what I understand they do not street race the car anymore with the exception being for that show. Its just too fast now. Even at the track they only run it in the 1/8th now because their class was getting too fast/dangerous. But they had been street racing for like the last 10 years, I think it was only the last year or two that they finally let go of the street action... and I would bet it has just as much to do with getting older/wiser as it does with the cars getting too dangerous.

These cars are anything but street cars. I dont want to come off like I am coming from deep in the scene because im not.. its just that one of these cars is built and maintained at a shop one block away from me and I stop by to shoot-the-**** once a month or so. They are quick as all hell downright nasty cars. And they are really serious about their racing and have a large local following, theres no way they would give-in to staged races.

I don't think the races are staged, but the rest of it is a load of ********. If anyone actually thinks these things are street cars they're a moron. On youtube you'll see all sorts of keyboard warriors saying they are. They post videos of them driving on the "streets" of okc. Which is like 45 mph on a flat straight road, stop then turn. Not a single one of those would survive 1 hour of LA traffic, or any of the hills around here. They'd all be overheating transmissions, radiators, and use up too much fuel. If you trailer your car to a race, it's not a street car. Period. Like that just shows it's not street capable. It's one thing to do that because you've got slicks on or whatever, but another entirely because you have a 5 gallon fuel tank and only run c16 and have basically all outlaw spec sh**. It's a load of bullsh** calling it street racing, but those cars are nasty. If you want to call them cars that is. At that point its all about who gets the best start and who can keep the car from spinning.

The fun in street racing is about not knowing what the other guy has, and the risk in getting caught. It's very well known the cops in the city shut down roads for them to "street race" on. The "getting caught" thing is also staged.

But hey, it's about 1,000x more interesting than pinks. I actually like the show. But still calling them street cars is like calling tori black "the girl next door", maybe in some kind of ******** fantasy bro. Keep dreaming.

They're just the only ones dumb enough to run em on the street. If I had a car like that I would not be taking it on the street. But then again they have ambulances and a crew on standby for the show. Kudos for them, they're probably reeling in the big bucks from shop traffic and discovery money. But those cars are track cars, on the street.

Street cars are cars you might pull up to at a stop light. Street cars are those little ***** tooling around town with noise fuel pumps that show up at the meet on their own power. Street racing is goading someone into thinking they could beat you, and holding a lot back. The farm truck thing is the closest to a street car out of all of them.

As for fastest, they really aren't. Maybe they're the quickest I'd say that, but none of these cars are set up for roll racing, which is a whole different realm of speed.

How are you guys dealing with off throttle on the Haltech? On the elite with ID1K's the idle is really rich like 13:1, which sounds about the norm from what you guys are seeing, but I have wicked rich when driving around and let off the throttle, or off throttle after a WOT run and engine braking down goes into the 10's off throttle.

Also do you guys have warm start issues, mine is like a simon says test when warm starting, it's definitely an experience haha.

I tried sending emails to Hal numerous times over the months to see if i can tinker with that if its something easy (rather than call) and never once got a response. Guess I'll have to call at some point.

From my understanding you shouldn't be having any of those problems. Maybe if you had id2000's that might be somewhat expected but not 1000's which are less than half the size. Even 2000's though seem to be acceptable on e85.

Who did your tune? What's your base fuel pressure?

As you can see my car idles at 13.5 at jus about 1000+/- rpm and this was jus after start up.. I have 0 issues with idle, start up hot or cold, and while driving I usually see the same. Upon deceleration, the norm is complete lean so if your seeing 10s I'd guess your rpm's are bouncing around too? That ain't right, I suggest you get in contact with Hal and have him the a look at it. He's spot on, knows what he's doing and if he sees something he'll take care of it and explain to you everything that's going on...
Jus make the call!!

Yea I hear ya guys. I wish there was some solid documentation on the Halttech site for a user guide for the Elite. I never seen that, the PDF's don't go into explaining all the features. It's more like that's provided in a class or something they probably offer to tuner's but don't provide in docs.

I'll have to get back home to check the base FP (traveling for work), but at the same time it just may be easier to send the car to them to clean up off throttle, as well as get the map selector and and boost controller working. It's running on a MBC right now with no selector etc.

I've just been thoroughly enjoying it after being down 2 years LOL. Not wanting to send it anywhere else haha, but I spoke to Dynosty and it's probably just easier to send it to them and let them get it done right and be done with it (or poke around with it once it's cleaned up). Good to get the confirmation as I was suspecting off throttle it was off a fair bit.

Normally I'd say enjoy the car the rest of the season, then send it down in the fall, this way they'd sort it over the winter and you wouldn't miss it. I don't Kno if it's safe to keep driving, not knowing how well it was tuned to begin with so maybe sending it now will save you more headaches in the long run. No matter what, once it's at Dynosty you can consider it fixed!!!

It just has bad gas mileage right now, it has zero problems getting me in trouble, that 130 in a 75 (thank God I was slowing down) ticket was fun LOL ($253). The tune is clean as far as knock is concerned with the data logging But yea, just want the gremlin stuff gone to fully consider it 'done'

Another option might be for Hal to remote in on your computer and take a look at everything. Don't Kno if you were aware of that?? I'd start there and see if he can
