Default PE TT build

I am just finishing up my motor and getting ready to put in my pe tt kit. I'm not super familiar with the kit and I havent been able to find hardly anything about it. The guy I bought it from was making about 500whp. I wanna hear what other people are doing with their pe kit

Wow I haven't heard about a Power Enterprise TT kit in ages! I remember they used to be ($$$) like HKS in terms of cost compared to eventually Greddy showing up and others that came on the scene.

I think I vaguely remember Technosquare or something tuning one a long time ago. Might be worthwhile searching some of their old threads. I don't really remember the PE TT kit's making a ton of power, I don't think the turbo's were too big? I think they were smaller or similar to Greddy 18G's in terms of air capacity?

There were two turbos that came with the kit, the 1420's and the bigger 1820's and yeah they aren't that big but I think that they can get the job done. They are very similar to the turbos in the gtr (or at least that is what I was told). I'm thinking my power goal is just at the end of their capability but I know a local turbo shop that does great stuff so maybe he could upgrade it for me. The turbos in the kit arent exactly in the best of shape so I may end up just replacing them with some better turbos

If I were to replace the turbos, which ones should I get? I'm shooting for a little bit under 600 at the wheels

Well GT28RS's .86 AR is easily in the 6's capable on 91 (700HP supposedly), mine did ~640 @ ~15#, at 12# i'm ~570, I run those on my setup at the moment (GTM TT kit).

http://www.power-enterprise.co.jp/US...n/z33/z33.html

Looking at that, supposedly your 1420's might be good for high 5's whp if the 600HP tout is fair, I'd say just fire it up and turn the boost up to see what those turbo's do.

Other boards say the 1820 is ~44 lbs/min so 2 of those would probably be similar to a Greddy 20G TT setup (900HP) worth of air which would be a walk in the park for high 5's only.

I dont know for sure if I have the 1420's or 1820's. I was told they were the 1820 but he wasn't 100% sure. I looked around on the turbos and couldn't find any indication about what size they are. Any ideas on how to find out?

I was hoping by now a real PE TT kit holder would come out of hiding, but apparently they have gone extinct. I can't say for the PE TT turbo's themselves, are they IHI's? But for example the Garrett turbo's GTM uses have the AR stamped on them so that's at least the way to determine the AR and might be the same for you. If the 1420's and 1820's had a different AR between them then that would be a way to deduce which ones you have.

If they have the same then possibly measuring the inlet size between the two and seeing which one matches if the two sized turbo's featured different ones would probably do.

With an old Greddy TT kit I used to run back in the day, it was obvious what was an 18G and a 20G just from seeing them in person alone without markings.

This all of course assumes there's not some kind of stamp on it that designates the 1420/1820.

rude... yes they are ihi's. I looked around and didn't find much except for the serial number. But after I did some searching on the interwebs I found they're the 1420s. Looks like I need to upgrade them or get some new turbos if I want to reach my power goal. from what I've found the 1420 might be able to reach my goal but it'd definitely be pushing it and would most likely fail after a while of heavy use.

The power would probably fall off and the boost drop off as you climb to redline. That's why my GT28's are doing, they are tanked in the 6's but that's not a big deal as that's more than plenty to handle any car that tries to bother typically.

Haha well, technically your the only one that I am aware of now with that kit. Would be awesome to see what the 1820's do! Post up your results when you get it all squared away!

I know this is an old thread but I have had the PE TT kit install for a long time.
Yes, the turbos are small, zero lag. I first ran it on the stock engine control module. When the UTEC came out I took the car to Maryland and had it tuned by AAM, they gave me a discount as they wanted a tune for this kit. Measured on a Mustang dyno in Louisville, it made 416 RWH. This car was my daily driver, winter and summer, and I have driven it like it was yours. No blown engine, etc. Even with the stickest tires I can break them loose on the road rolling even in 4th gear. Honestly, for the street, there is no need for more HP for me. This kit is more like a supercharger I guess you would say, no lag, etc. After I had the UTEC installed I took it out to test if the speed limiter had been really removed. If I remember correctly [this was 10 years or more ago] I hit 167 or 169 MPH, the areo kit kicked in, the car was sucked down to the road and felt completely stable, there was more power to be had but I was running out of road so I backed off. The car has 88K miles on it now, I would guess I strapped on the turbos somewhere under 20K, if interested I can look it up. I am still running the stainless steel exhaust manifolds that came with the kit, however, I picked up some new cast exhaust manifolds a couple of years ago. Sometime soon I'll have them put on.
Technosquare was the US [Calif] company that was reprogramming the ECU for the kit, you pulled yours, sent it to them, and they did it and sent it back. I was leery and waited till the UTEC came out.
In the early days on here, people were blowing engines left and right due to bad tunes, BS kits, etc. I played it safe and I'm still rocking the same engine. However, I do have a spare short block in the shed, that I got for free from my amigo the mechanic. lol

If the OP is still around and has questions feel free to PM me or post here. I will subscribe.

From Power Enterprise's website:
The specially developed turbo for the VQ35, the PE1420 has a flow rate of 550+HP with twin and generating a powerful torque from mid RPM range makes your 350Z to be the fastest car on road course. The kit includes the very efficient front mount intercooler, big capacity oil pan and hi-volume fuel injectors. The twin turbo kit is suitable for 400HP(for stock engine) to over 500HP on a built engine. You will enjoy every step of tuning with the fast spooling and toughest turbo kit in the market. Three different kit combinations are available for your needs, complete Kit, partial kit and base component kit of your choice.

Note it says 400HP for stock engine, and I am in that group. The oil pan and injectors were not in the kit back in the day. I have a set of PE injectors also, sitting next to the cast manifolds. Maybe I'll toss those in at the same time.

Default Update

The build went well and its all good and solid now. I had a bit of a hastle with the wastegates (passenger side went out and you can't buy them anymore with the bracket or rod) so I had to fab some but it's all tuned now and the final number came out to 553whp on pump gas. Could have gone more but anything past that is pushing the block so I called that good. Next I just need to finish up the interior and make the exterior look good and this will be all done! Almost tempted to make it a full racecar with how well it handles and how fast it is.
