supercharging with audi/merc charger?
Hey guys
its my first post and here and boy is it a weird one.
I was talking to a friend of mine bout my 350z and FI, that i was in a dilemma bout charger or a turbo, mostly because its gonna be a custom build kit.
The guys isnt much into cars, but has some basic knowledge and he shot me with a weird question that actually had potential.
Size of turbo is calculated with engine size in mind, same goes for superchargers, why not take the whole supercharger kit from a 3.0tfsi audi and plant it on the 3.5 Z? at first i was like wtf, and than i was like ...hmmm, possible?
I havent actually seen one of those outside an audi, but i guess the mounting itself is no hard job (im DIY guy, done couple of engine swaps)
soooo, i know there will be some issues at first, but why wouldnt it work?
Doesnt have to be an audi 3.0tfsi charger, could be a charger from merc c32amg or something else. lets not get into remap talks, i got a guy for that

Ummm...have you even considered the crazy amount of custom stuff needed to mount a audi/merc supercharger on a nissan?
First would be the intake manifold, hood clerance, belt routing. It would cost way cheaper to do a brand new turbo/blower set-up.

dont wanna sound too cocky or anything, but im actually not worried bout that, so lets get the mounting off the table.
Im not even sure im gonna go this way, just curious why wont it work, cuz something tells me it aint gonna work properly, even with a good tune

Have you even tried to mock it up yet to see if its even possible to run our Serpentine belt to their blower? No one on here can say 100% it will or wont work its just not something you do unless you have loads of money and want to do something off the wall with your car. I will say more often than not if your going to add a blower or turbo to your car your doing it to get as much power out of it as possible.
With that being said if your doing it for the power portion, I'll bet $1,000,000 that a E-Bay turbo kit will be easier to install with less problems and provide a considerable more amount of power for probably 1/5 - 1/10th the price.
Now I'm not saying don't due it I'm just saying there are way to many other ways to make a Z fun then wasting money one something that could possibly not work.

You should download the Stillen roots style blower kit installation and parts manual to understand what is involved. People who installed it liked it, but not easy and high costs due to hood modification. It has a great power/torque curve. Stillen has since moved to a kit that uses the Vortech blower. Good luck.
