Angry Ethanol Content? E85 Falling to E54?

So, within the last month the state’s (Arizona) passed some legislation that in part lowers the ethanol content from E85 to E54. Many local people have already chimed in stating that ethanol content levels have already dropped to 50-60%...

I’ve heard a couple of opinions on what type of impact this’ll have on performance, some people said little impact, and others have said we should see a 25-40whp drop in power. I’m expecting the latter, especially since I’m pretty much maxing out my single GT35R.

Anyone else seeing similar drops in ethanol content in their locality? I’m curious what this is going to mean when I get my car back on the dyno now…

I'm interested as to why some folks predict lower power. Ethanol has a higher octane rating compared to gasoline, but a lower energy content.

The octane rating between E85 and E50 will be very noticeable so you have to pull timing to prevent knock therefore less power.

Its because the representative are tires of all the evo killing eveeyone out here.

Haha but on a serious, RIP to all the evo and sti guys. I know e85 is a HUGE dependency for cheap power with them.

So, this seems like to the place to ask. Do you think rc750s and a 255 pump at 51psi is enough fuel for a procharger on E50?

One of my customers just got his VHR tuned on E70. Doesn't look like it is a hinderence to power:

686whp, 531ft/tq at 14.8psi. This is a 6266 T4 1.15 a/r Precision turbo, stock VHR engine.

I only get E70 out here in NM, and make solid power 660 corrected running rich for E85 (11:1), no issues here with e70 content thus far.

I think it depends on the size of the pro charger. Might run out of pump.
