Supercharger to built twin turbo build
Hi everyone,
I have had my vortech for a couple of years now and I am now deciding to switch things up. I was losing about a quart of oil every 500 miles and with 140k on the motor i decided it was time for a rebuild. Originally I was going to keep the vortech and make just around 500whp. This is my DD by the way. After talking to a lot of people on the forum I decided to go twin turbo since I am fully building the motor and want to get the most out of it. I picked up a used greddy kit and sent the turbos out to be rebuilt. Just to be safe. My goal is now to make 600whp. Here is my parts list.
Engine Build
Cp Pistons
Manley H beam rods
Kelford stage 1 turbo cams
Manley valve springs and retainers
ACL bearings
L19 Headstuds
HR Head Gasket
Fuel
Custom fuel return system
DW 1000cc injectors
Clutch
OS Giken twin disc
Brakes
Oem Brembo upgrade (Getting calipers powdercoated and rebuilt)
SS brake lines
Stoptech slotted rotors
Project MU brake pads
Exhaust
Berk resonated test pipes
Suspension
Having most of my bushings replaced.
Cooling
Koyo radiator
Tuning
Uprev
Greddy profec boost controller
Here is a list of the current mods on the car.
Ark grip catback exhaust
Whiteline Sway bars
Whiteline Sway bar endlinks
OS giken diff
Whiteline diff bushings
340lph fuel pump
Rpf1s
I know the fuel pump will probably be the weak link here. It is something I will probably replace in the future. I will also put on a nice set of coilovers at some point. I am very excited for this project and I can't wait until it's done. I am sure I'm forgetting something and I am using my cellphone to type all this up so please bare with me. I look forward to hearing what you guys think, Thanks.

interesting ... I did this swap and pretty happy with the setup - might want to take a look at my build thread to not repeat my mistakes...
get the turbos rebuilt or buy new CHRA no matter what
replace the turbo oil feed lines on the kit
tap the upper oil pan for your oil return lines
add an oil cooler
add waste gate relocation kit (look up Sucker Punch Motorsports)
I'd also sell the Uprev and go Haltech, nothing against Uprev but haltech will do more for you.

read through my thread as well. I did more of an OEM location for major components.
As for the OS giken...it drove like dog crap. Lightweight flywheel made starting a pain. Stall city. So grabby. Hill start...forget it.
Why pay 2k+ for a twin clutch when it drives like a single 6 puck with a light flywheel.

sales gimmick...I have the JWT clutch/flywheel and it's a great mix of drivability and performance - solid brand, great customer service, and great product.
What I really like is that i can buy a new clutch disk for $120 when I need it...
