Default Attempt #3, more power more problems

Full current build list here (post 1): https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...ttlenecks.html

Attempt #1

Simple Vortech V2 Si setup with 1000cc injectors and a failed 450 Walbro basket on E85.

Result: Blown engine due to Sheered rod bolts from being redlined too often I assume? (Past drifting, possible cause)

Attempt #2

Built engine with far more supporting mods

Result: Blower bearings failed, was a used unit so wasn't surprised.

Attempt #3

So, after trial and error I decided to upgrade to the V2 Ti trim to hit what goals I wanted. (I considered the V7 but don't want to deal with the belt headaches under higher boost)

Engine should be done either today or tomorrow and dyno availability is around the end of the month.

This time I "should" be fine. I wanted to get used to the 700 range before I start to spray in the near future.

Figured I'd make another thread for updates to make it easier on my trial and error to reach the highest hp SC'd Z. Yes I know I'm cheating with spray later but a record is a record.

Good luck mate - I will be following with interest. As you know I'm in the middle of a vortech build too - aiming over 500whp. Over the last 10 years of zed ownership I have blown 3 stock VQ35DE motors so I guess this is my fourth attempt!

Oh and what do you mean by 'spray'? Nitrous?

Just a mini not really an update.

Been stupid hot in Texas so we been stalling on the tuning. Doesn’t help that I opted to remove the AC components.

Hey 0taku, Plan on running bigger piping pre & post intercooler? For me I was virtually impossible to run full 3 inch piping after the intercooler due to the ac compressor and lack of space. This is why I still run 2.5 inch post intercooler. It's hot in South Carolina and I just moved from Texas so I know what's kind of heats out there lol. As stated above, if it's not a dedicated track car, I would suggest keeping AC installed.

Good luck!

Been a while since I updated.

Time has been really constricting but here's the most recent updates as of now.

The last time we did a street tune, everything was going gold. When we got the cruising down, we started on WOT pulls.

First WOT pull and of course the belt decided to shred badly, but luckily there was 2 ribs left for us to drive back to the shop. Grabbed a pulley alignment laser checker and found out that the bracket itself was warped from too much tension on the radius rod.

Got that swapped out and now waiting for the dyno again, thankfully the shop finally got itself a nice loaded dyno.

What shocked me the most was the car saw around 14-15psi around 4500rpm before the belt gave away which is good news that the Ti blower is building boost just fine. (Since I had issues before with the S Trim only attaining 11psi on redline with the 2.87)

Only time will tell before I find the final numbers but I'm hoping to reach past Francos numbers running on E85 and a smaller pulley.

Sorry for the shreaded belt, unfortunaltly it can happen. Seems like the Ti is doing well, glad its just a small fix! Good luck on your results man with the 2.87. Iim sure you will surpass 700whp, the Ti is a strong blower.

Mini Update:

So my tuner finally took the big step and bought his shop an AWD loaded dyno (Thank goodness for a loaded dyno)

Only thing I'm waiting on now is the dedicated air compressor he needs for it.

I'm also happy on some street pulls that the belt doesn't shred anymore but we couldn't get an accurate boost reading since they weren't WOT pulls. (Just safe slow redline pulls to test belt tension and reliability)
