Default Made my own vertical intercooler for twin turbo

I'm making my own custom twin turbo setup (partly cos I wanted more power and partly for the challenge of making something like this myself) and this week I've pretty much finished the intercooler so thought I'd post some pics here.

This is the first time I've tried to make anything like this, and I just taught myself how to weld with youtube videos not that long ago... so yeah its far from perfect. But overall I'm fairly happy with how its come out.

One thing I would do differently if I was doing it again is get a smaller intercooler core lol I'm only going for around 500 whp and its purely used for drifting where you don't get much air flow anyway, but I thought the bigger the better right? Well no not when it barely fits and you have to make a weird *** end tank outlet just to get it to fit round the headlights etc.

What, welder are you using?

Benefits of vertical over horizontal intercoolers?

this welder: https://www.r-techwelding.co.uk/tig-...al-tig-170ext/

I went vertical mainly because of the fact I've got two turbos mounted low down on either side of the car and one throttle body high up, so it made sense to have end tanks on the bottom and top rather than on the sides (and then having to get pipes from one turbo over to the other side of the car). However, when I was researching and planning this whole project I did find that in most cases it turns out more efficient for cooling having a vertical flow intercooler. Can't remember the science behind it but I'm sure if you google it you'll find similar results.

For reference, this is where I've mounted the turbos (and yes I'll be using a scavenger pump for oil return)
