Default G35 Vortech CAI DIY

Beyond happy with my new Vortech V2 kit, but was a bit disappointed with the tiny crunched filter. Fixed that last night. Coupler, 3.5” piping, and lightly used AEM dry filter picked up on eBay for $60. Had to cut one of the bends off the piping but came out pretty good.

Props to a nice looking job! I think I'll stay where I am bc I've known several people that hydrolocked NA, plus ease of filter service.
Nice work though!

Sup, Tim- I'm here to learn so thank you!

Not to put too fine a point on it but -
1) I suspect my friends were not wearing both fender- liners and bottom- covers.
2) I measured the difference from stock airbox to just under the latch with a laser thermometer. The difference was 6 degrees F, plus heat-soak. For me, I was glad to be rid of the Z1 long-tube when I went FI. I had my charge pipes powder-coated before install (heat-soak) bit I'll definitely re-evaluate my set-up. Thanks, my friend!

That setup looks amazing Tim. Makes my little intercooler look, well little.

I may add an AEM Dry Sock for good measure in the event someone somehow spray water directly at the filter, but I wont be driving in too much rain.

I wonder if it makes a difference. I don’t have a filter and the noise is completely filtered out by the obnoxiously loud tial bov constantly dumping air like a jet.
