What to do with my car, confused and disgusted, info overload
I made 3 Dyno's on 2-23-04 and the Dyno Operator is a dork. He says he can't do 4th gear pulls because "it goes into the passing gear."
So he eases into first real slow in manual mode then lets it slow down, then eases into second gear real slow and let's it slow down then cruises up into 3rd gear and goes WOT.
Max power was at 6200 rpm's with a whopping 315RWHP using this methos, this is not how I have seen others dyno my car and it tore the belt all to to he!! only for me to have to pay him 60 bucks and be told his prices go up next week to 75.00 for 3 runs.
He wasn't gonna do it at all because he said he couldn't get the hook under my front spoiler
I should have left.
Anyways
Pro's car has massive power using the SOTP meter even with passengers. I have taken passengers for a ride who have a 6MT (I have an A5T) and they all have said my car pulls harder than theirs. The A/F seems to be perfect, from 11.2 to 12.2 through redline and the timing is also perfect, zero detonation.
Sounds and runs awesome. Hates Dyno's a Dyno killed it's heart once before and maybe it has a memory and is skiddish on Dyno's. Heheh, I would be.
Con's
1-7-5 rich code bank two every other day that has to be cleared out. Does this hurt the car? It's from the closed loop mode with my 380cc's I'm sure.
9 PSI seems a little risky but if my timing and A/F is good how safe am I really?
I have a friend coming over Sunday to change the compressor pulley (going through belts like underwear) should I throw a 27 on there and go back to 7PSI and when I want 9 PSI just up the redline? I can make nine with the 7 at 66oo rpm's I bet.
I am tired of all of this dicking around I just want it to run fast and reliable.
So do I have to reflash because of this stupid code?
Do I have to reflash if I change the #25 to a number 27 (7 lbs?)
Will that make it even richer?
Should I redyno risking blets etc and adding more stress which I hate or just go track the thing and forget about RWHP and keep it at 9 PSI. It's not like it sees 9 PSI daily, it's actually pretty rare for me to wide open throttle on most average days anyway.
What would you do? This crap and all of this new information coming out about high boost woes, and rich cosed in closed loop is really starting to burn me out.
Does that 315rwhp in 3rd gear sound normal or low? Is it because my belt was shredded or is my engine going south again? I don't have any symptoms of the engine going bad Ie low idle, misfires or oil. Am I getting paranoid?
WTF to do, this is really getting old man 6 months later still trying to dial in
All input apreciated on which path to take, at times I just want to rip the whole blower out and go N/A but then I lost major bucks for diminishing returns and my car would be a dog compared to what it is now.

That sounds low to me, frankly. However, the gear to use depends on the dyno machine. A dynojet is going to be best in the 1:1 gear. On a chassis dyno (ie. dynopack), in my experience the gear doesn't matter because the machine can simulate load.

I asked him about "simulating load" and he says, "we don't do that."
Then he had this gurgling sound from some hose running to the Dyno Jet PC that he said was a dirty filter and he pulled out this water filter full of black crud?
Dyno experts what do you think, WTF is this water filter and what does it do and why can't he dyno in the 1:1 gear of 4th on my car? I feel like I wasted 60 bucks but at least I confirmed my EGT readings that my A/F was in spec. That is all I really care about on a Dyno, I test it's power at the track but people LOVE to see Dyno's.

This is a pretty simple question.... most people can't dyno cars in 1:1 gears if the car would have to high of a wheel speed. I know it sounds funny, but some people with dynos don't let the wheel speeds get to high if they aren't testing for high performance applications.
My friend dynoed his GT2 the other day, and had wheel speeds of over 200MPH!
Talk about listening to the tires "sing"

Yeah that is part of the problem too, at 4th gear and 6200 rpm's my car is aproaching 140mph or faster which is just crazy.
So is 315rwhp for a lazy shifting 3rd gear pull normal for 8.5 PSI?
He claims he saw 8.5 PSI but my Boost Guage doesn't measure in half increments???

Turn off the friggen edit disable feature it's BS!
AnywayZ...
Of course the belt ripping off can't of helped, new belt and pulley on in 2 days (Sunday) , this will be all new pulleys and belts on this kit lol.
I hate to friggen go back to the Dyno, I think I will head to the track after I do some closed course WOT runs out by the Airport
and we will judge off that.

Anyways thanks for the massive influx of assistance lol
I'll swap the 22 pulley, align the belt right and go track it, the Dyno Operator and his equiment suck. That is why his Dyno Bay is empty every day I found out. He is s Smog Tech and his Dyno was bought from Hot Rod Imports the one that always had problems, I researched it today others have experienced the same low numbers and lame excuses and quit going there. They go to an Import place on Sunrise now.
I have 3 days off to make sure I get the compressor belt aligned right to spec it was too tight. No need to fill up this thread with all this data that is pouring in on my questions lol
I will be sure to follow up with how it goes and my times and new dyno etc for all to see so they know if the setup is good or not.
Yeah right lol....
After all, that is what we are here for right, to answer each others questions when they need help?
Later....
crickets, lol!!!

Sorry I can't help ya much, but to me it sounds like you need to find a new dyno and tuning shop... sounds like the guys aren't really trying to help you out too much and aren't very knowledgable.
I had my car dynoed on a mustang......and we did most of them in 3rd [AT5] when I did them in 4th I got it up to 143 mpr but lost 2whp every time .He did let me do the pulls though.....the guy that did yours is a dork....When you do them in 3rd...you have to slowly throttle up to about 3,500 rpm and then go WOT...but not to fast or it will down shift .If you go back to him ask if you can do the pull ...If he says no...go some where else
Max, I wouldn't waste your time or money at that place. 315 RWHP at 8.5 PSI is super low regardless of what gear you are in. With intake, exhaust and crank pulley my car did 245 rwhp in 3rd gear. (N/A) I would expect to see at least 335-345 rwhp out of yours at 8.5 PSI in 3rd gear.
Concerning your belts. You need to get those checked first. I haven't had the slightest problem with mine.
