Question Power Enterprise TT

Does anyone have a PE TT setup that is daily driven? Also, do you have to have emissions testing? If so, does it pass? Thinking of getting the kit, but need for it to pass the lame testing that is done every year here.

YEs... I'm curious whether this or any other TT is going to meet CARB requirements This seems to be a VERY major issue as most states are going in that direction.

To my knowledge, PE hase no plans for a CARB exemption. The Greddy TT has a CARB exemption pending, and i spoke to Greddy directly and they are confident it will be approved by the summertime. They design their kits to run with factory cats and all emmissions controls untouched. Most of their other bolt on kits already have CARB exemption.

Texas requires a yearly emissions test on a brand new car? Most states give you 5-6 year period after buying a new car where you are exempt from emissions. Are you sure that's not the case in Texas also?

i really hope that Greddy gets CARB certification by summer. I would hate to get stopped by a sheriff and have to take my turbo setup. This is what is happening here in san jose cali. On weekends there are hella sheriffs out at night and just cruising waiting to stop any car that looks like it is modded. Then they force you to pop your hood. GQ model, is greddy gonna let us know when they get certification? Will they be mailing us some kind of certification or paper to keep in our cars in case we get hassled by a cop or something?

On a new car, the wait is two years. After that, every time you get the car inspected, they do the emissions test as well, which is annually.

That is correct, except that it applies to areas that have been ruled high pollution areas only. In Texas these are Houston(harris county) and the El Paso area. Maybe Dallas and San Antonio as well. Elsewhere we Have it lucky, as it is a visuall inspection only, no obd test or tailpipe test. I live in Chambers county adjacent to Harris county and take no test.

I heard that they are trying to get surrounding counties in the testing as well. I know montgomery county is doing the testing as of last year.

Fernandito, it's possible that Greddy will send us the CARB cert, but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Rumors will spread once it has been approved, and then you can goto this website and do a search for the CARB EO cert...it's actually a pretty neat CA government database.

Thanks for this link Jesseenglish!

Regarding the police, I have one piece of advise and take it for what's it worth! IMO, nothing attracts the cops more than FRICKEN LOUD exhaust! So get your self a nice sub 95db exhuast and you'll probably go unnoticed 99% of the time. If a cop feels you are disrespecting society and distrurbing the peace, he's going to nail you...no question. The HP difference between a loud exhuast and the milder variety is negligible...and certainly no more than 5hp or so.

It nullifys that anyway so think before you add one, if CARB is really important to you and keep valid.

The San Jose cops are usually pretty cool, I used to work in the area, driving in the radio station vans between the various hot spots and clubs. I got a lot of warning tickets, but as long as I wasn't being "obnoxious" they were cool.

FYI, there are a couple of SoCal Nissan dealerships that are installing the Greddy TT kit. I dont know about warrenty issues, but they are doing it. I believe Garden Grove Nissan is one of them, and I would probably think that Irvine Nissan would be another since it is near the Greddy office.
