There are a few guys over at maxima.org running 14-15psi on completely stock VQ30DE motors (3.0L version of our motor) and the don't blow up...so you should be just fine @ 10psi...

How do their rods look compared to ours though cuz ours are tiny. Look at how skinny they are.

ok I have to add my 2 cents here. Have any o fyou read the DSPORT Mag article on the G35C that blew its rods at 400hp? They were highly reccomending that the rods get changed to turbo rated rods before tuning up to that high hp. Any comments? Its issue 1S 14/15. The one with Francine Dee sitting in front of the green drag crx. Its a very intersting article. GQ, I will bring it this saturday to show you.

They are pretty much identical. Talk to an engine builder and ask them about our rods. They aren't the "best" but they are far from "weak".

They aren't weak, but they aren't made for forced induction either. Especially when the power is 400whp compared to 240whp which it was intended to be at. And I DID talk to an engine builder and he said my engine won't last long. Blast Racing... they're affiliated with Motorex and do all their skylines and just did a single turbo G35 and built the block. They're the ones who pulled out this piston/rod combo outta a G35. Their history involves working side by side with Nissan Japan and being ex-HKS workers. Lots of other past work too but qualified people to say the least.

Q: Is the stock fuel pump sufficient for 8psi with the 440cc injectors?

A: No

Yancy, how did you determine this? On a Dyno with AF? Did you measure the fuel pressure? Please elaborate on your findings.

I don't know how he figured it out but when I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge, fuel pressure dropped from 48-50 all the way down to 40. then again when I hooked up the walbro without a fuel pressure regulator it stayed at 58 the whole time. thats why I added a FPR at the tank there. It works great, starts out at 50 and goes up to 60 at boost.

Obviously there will be a limit for the stock conrod as there is for any mechanical component. I would be a little scared to run more than 8 psi with the stock rods ( could say more though i'd better not), as long as the stock RPM limit is retained you should be safe at 8 psi. Over 8 psi it would be advisable to consider billet con rods. A broken con rod can make one hell of a mess of the cyl block and prevention is definitely better than cure.

Dang, those rods look thin! But constuction and material is very important. Who knows what mixture of steel Nissan used? I won't boost those at 10 psi/450 rwhp on a daily driver. 400 rwhp max with really good tunning is what I'd go for, at whatever boost.
