Default Vortech belts VS. ATI belts A LITTLE CLARIFICATION

I have yet to see any of these installed in person only in pictures. It seems that there are some that are having belt issues primarily with the vortechs. In pics it seems that the ATI uses belts with teeth on them as well as pulleys with teeth like grooves in them. From the pics it seems that the ATI has this in the front of the blower and the rear. From the Vortech pics it shows on the a teeth driven belt on the rear of the blower while the front side of the engine uses just convetional belts....does the ati use less belts.......remember IM going only by pictures. also the ATI mount plate seems to be thicker and the quality looks better.Remember Im going only on pics.... if anyone in san diego has a ATI or Vortech, could they please pm me......I would love to see that setup..........all you SC guys feel free to chime in.

Also i hear alot of guys talking about belt dust......and this seems to be a vortech issue only or both systems. I really APPRECIATE ANY INPUT. THANKS A BUNCH

Uhhh, yeah, no belt problems with the ATI... That's funny.

But seriously, I'll try to take a picture of the area where I had a small amount of belt dust on the Vortech and what I did to fix it.

A lot of people complain about the Vortech bracket being small or flimsy. I have the ATI kit and have had no problems with the belts or dust.
There were 2 people that had issues with ATI belts. One person had taken a bolt out of the bracket (that needed to remain for balance) and the other had a warped pulley. Both issues were caused by outside circumastances and were not due to ATI's design or setup.

Here's the spot I had rubbing. The serpentine belt rubbed against the head of the bolt in the picture due to the way I had threaded the belt.

The pulley in this photo has grooves. I had the belt in the grooves too close to the edge of the bracket. When I moved the belt over to the outer edge of the pulley (i.e. correctly in the grooves), the rubbing went away. This was user error, not a Vortech design flaw.

Lastly, I was not denigrating the ATI kit in *any* way in my previous post. It's just that the two cases of ATI belt problems on this board were, uh, well documented and ongoing. They were both resolved, as has been pointed out.

I have an ATI Procharger . No problems at all. I am running 12.7 sec 1/4 mile with 1.9 0-60 feet, 114 mph, with B.F. drag radials (2.95-35-18), 6 lbs boost. I have the J. S. safeguard. I forgot that I even have a S.C. under the hood. Very reliable and very efficient. I'm very happy with it!!

The JS safeguard pulls back timing (retards) during boost to prevent knocking(detonation)

Nice numbers! I am just going by my G-Tech and my OBD II for quarter mile times, but you are beating me by almost a second! I did 13.6 at 112. Must be those drag radials!

My son and I live in Santo Domingo. We have 75 to 100 degrees Farenheit temp. all year around .... That's not good for air density !! We won last year's drag racing champ. in our Toyomoto IS- 300 (504 rwhp). We were also going to win in the " open class " but we lost traction going 120 m/h in our 785 rwhp S.C. Mustang and we hit the rail. Very scary, we have the video.
We race with C-16 VP gas. (117 octane) so no ignition retard. The J & S is for streets. Gasoline is very bad here so we use water alcohol injection for the Lexus and tholuene (20%) in the Z.
Trap times:

14.3 1/4 m. stock
13.2 procharger and nitto drag radials
12.7 with B.F. G drag radials (excellent tires )

To win this year we have to do 11.8 secs. 1/4 miles.
We need 500 rwhp for that. New engine, 8.5:1 C.R. and 18 lbs of boost. Halteck stand alone, etc.

I thought there some issues with the ATI snapping belts when you get near or slightly over 400whp. Was that issue resolved as well?

I have had zero belt dust or squilling or anything........I now have 800 miles on my vortech, runs like i bought it from the factory.................. .........remember I had it professionally installed by one of the best guys in the country..........I really think that is the difference between a install that gives problems and a install that dosent...... .........and buy a AEM wideband, it is sweeettt.

Both ATI and Vortech have been making SCs for some time now. I think most belt related issues are created by the user end. Ive put over 3000 miles on my ATI kit and im very happy with the whole event.
