guage questions
Yes...agreed...boost and Wideband A/F. Careful out there...there are plenty of cheap A/F gauges that arent wideband...but you have to read closely to know. Some people will critisize the AEM for not having datalogging capability. But it actaully can datalog...it has an output...but you just need to hook it up to a logger or some kind. I hook mine up to my profec, and I can datalog off that.
By the way...i thinks its funny that people constantly mispell the word gauges. It just feels like it wants to be spelled "guages"

note, the part number for the dual pillar is 22808, not 22809, summit has them for sale for 56$, they are a full pillar but i have a G too and dont know if it is an exact fit, they are paintable tho so can probably be matched to the factory willow, does anybody know if the Z and G pillars are the same.
everyone, seems to be recommending a wide band a/f gauge. Great advice, but My question is, if I get the kit properly tuned, with the R4 software and dyno tuned, will I still need one? I am new to the whole FI thing, so if this is a totaly stupid question forgive me. With a supercharger kit, unless the boost is changed, wouldn't the a/f ratio stay in its "as tuned state"?
Thanks again

Yes and no. A/F ratios can changed based on the facotry timing adjustments (timing adjustments will alter A/F ratios)...the ECU is constantly changing those...and weather. And in my opinion, there is TREMENDOUS peace of mind in veiwing real-time A/F when using any after market turbo kit. Lastly, the Z's fuel system is notoriously fickle...so I wanna know my injectors arent leaning out on me due to drops in fuel pressure. This would apply even if you have an aux or replacement fuel pump and reg.

OKAY..........
((flamesuit on)
wouldnt a boost gauge (indicative of blower operation & effectiveness of belts, etc) and a fuel pressure (indicative of safety of amounts of fuel) be the easiest way to determine if the motor WILL experiene any running problems??
Im thinking this would show risk of detonation, etc. PRIOR to it happening, rather than an EGT or ... which show the after combustion effects of insufficient fueiling/mapping.....
i may be splitting hairs with the timeframe of which i am referring to (before and after) , but i really dont understand why these two gauges wouldnt give sufficient engine analysis for FI (morseso for s/c than turbo, which uses exhaust gasses DIRECTLY in the reburn)...
im just thinking the more expensive and flashy EGT and Wideband's are slightly unecessary for this application...
thoughts please (good or bad!!)
