Default How many lbs with vortech?

I was wondering what other people with vortechs are get in the way of boost. Today I recorded the split second box with my laptop and the highest boost it saw was 6.4 lbs at 6845 rpm. I have wideband and boost gauge on order so that is the only way I could get boost for now. Vortech said it was lower because 8 lbs is with stock car, no mods.

Last time I hooked up to my laptop it showed 8.5 lbs of boost, but the time before that I wasn't getting full boost and it turned out to be due to a loose belt.

How tight is your serpentine belt?

I've hit .65 bar once or twice, but I'm constantly hitting .6 bar at 6700 rpm. My ecu isn't reflashed, but my rev limitor doesn't kick in until 6800 for some reason.

I could not hear it slip. Before I tightened the belt the boost was falling off at around 4psi.

IMO, if the car is cold and you can turn the serpentine belt upside down without difficulty then it's definitely too loose. In my experience it tightens as it warms up so IMO you want it so you can't quite flip it upside down cold.

I had the guy at the shop ride with me and watch the gauges .Got on the interstate and did a run from 3rd through 4th [AT5] . I took it to 7,500 rpm on my tach in 3rd....[I know its off] and got 10.2 lbs of boost . A/F never dropped down passed 11.2 to 1 . Im wondering if the boost gauge is right. It comes calibrated , but it was more than likely done at a different elevation. So i'll read the book on it and see if I can recalibrate it

If your rev limiter has been raised you'll definitely see more than 8 psi under normal conditions. The "true" way to see the boost level is to drive with the R4 connected and have a friend watch the fuel map while you go to WOT. Or better yet, use the record feature (see my other thread to that effect).

Gonna have to buy a lap top .Looks like there is a alot of nice features to the R4 ,Zimbo....do you run the com port through the fire wall ? Installer said he had barely enough room to get the split sec. wiring though there

Does the r4 and laptop hook up to the SS box or does it hook up to the cars ECU?

The software connects to the SS box which is in the battery compartment (at least in my case it is--I'm assuming everyone's is like that).

I don't have my serial cable permanently installed. I just take off the entire battery cover and run the serial cable under the hood and up past the windshield wiper and into the passenger-side window.
