f/i on auto
hey everyone, i am new to the boards and i just got the car and got money to spare still, and i would like to add some sort of force induction into my automatic z. i am not sure weather to pick up the greddy TT kit or the vortech supercharger, which one would ya recommend? and any inputs on them, if someone has this for their auto's would also be nice. i am looking into having lots of fun with this car. thanks ya

if i go the TT route, will the auto tranny be able to hold up to the 5psi? this is going to be my daily driver, even tho it is, i'll still boost it, if i run 5psi i dont think i can blow anything right?

I have the Vortech on my G35 AT5..379whp...Had to have the rev limiter raised to 7,200rpm's to get it to shift at WOT in auto mode .Looking into a stallconverter for the tranny now . At WOT the shifts are slow and for a split second it feels like you lose all power between gears .This car is a daily driver with no problems at all
it sounds sort of like a "sewing machine" or a "jet" and to your average joe it sounds like something is wrong with your car...lol
but to people that are in the know, you got something special under the hood

damn! that sounds bad ***!! the zo6 sounded mean!
to my research that i've done before, lot's of people who have their car's for a daily driver would do sc>turbo becasue the super charger is mroe reliable. that might be opinions but i would like reliablilty in my car which is leaning me a bit towards the super charge route. so more opinions on this would be great. and what was the z06 auto or stick?

It sounded like he chirped his tires a little when he upshifted during the race so I'm guessing it's a stick? ... but all the sounds from the z06 are fairly similar to what a supercharged 350z sounds like (except we have a better exhaust note of course
)..With the windows closed or crusing at normal speeds on the highway, you can barely hear the whine from inside the cabin..
If you take care of your car I'm sure either a supercharger or a turbo will last equally as long. A supercharger is more easily "bolt on" than a turbo though which requires more engine work.
I think some supercharger kits have problems with the automatic tranny in the Z.. Something about losing boost while upshifting.. you may want to do a search before committing..
The greddy TT kit requires that you lose your front aluminum bumper bracing so if it's a daily driver and you get into a front fender bender, you could be doing some serious damage to your car or yourself.
just some things to ponder..

No reason to do cams really unless you are full out building the motor.
hm..sorry about the post above, didnt see zinbo's post..
so no intake if i go supercharger, but no header's if i go turbo! ah'! such hard choices!
i cant really decide..i got the cash laying around...but id otn know what to do with it

You can replace the headers on a sc engine, but it may make it run lean, which means extra tuning might be required. The intake on a sc engine will be replaced so no need for that.
On the TC there is no need for the headers or intake because the TC will replace or reroute these items.
