I really wanted to get a baseline dyno on my G35 and was waiting for something like this...not because I'm a cheap bastard but because I'd like to get to know more people in the Z/G community....BUT some #@$$# hit my car last wednesday so it's in the body shop! Anyway, I still want to show up...can I dyno the SS camaro? I haven't dynoed since Long tube headers, high flow cats, LS6 cam. By the way, I removed the ATI procharger...the whine was ridiculous. If it's not cool to bring the SS, I may show anyway just to mingle.

Yes...the countdown is on. I spoke with Dan at Strictly Dyno again just to confirm everyone's attendance. Since we'll have about 20 people dynoing, he will bring in extra assistance to make the process run quickly and smoothly.

As a reminder...I know I dont need to do this. But.....it's REALLY important that everyone show up...no flakes...OK?

Otherwise, we'll have lots of angry people that have to fork over another $15 each becuase we didnt meet the minimum number of 15 cars.

I KNOW that wont happen...we are going to have a great time!!!

REPEAT OF THE DETAILS:

Strictly Dyno
7021 Darby Ave
Reseda, CA 91335
818-345-3121
Contact person: Dan

MAP Link (cut and paste into browser): http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed...w=1&name=&qty=

$45 for three pulls with A/F and Print Out. (CASH or CHECK only)
No mods or changes between pulls...2 mins between pulls.
Start Time: 8:30am
First come first serve signup....so get there early if you wanna be the first to dyno.

Cool, look forward to being there. it's 350 C.I(5.7L). It will be interesting to see what what the A/F will be since the Long tubes...I have a feeling I'm running pig rich, but yet I get pinging out of first gear from a stop..although this only started when CA switched over to crappy 91 octane.

The pinging in first gear from a stop at low RPM is almost impossible to tune out....ive tried. At cruise and idle, your ECU...if its ANYTHING like the Z's, is running max ignition timing....on the Z...its about 45degrees! So the moment you mash the pedal, there is a small delay before the ECU starts retarding timing. Once you are WOT on the Z.....the ignition advance quickly drops to about 20 degrees advance.....and stays pretty close to this to redline..maybe a tad higher. It's that brief delay as the timing drops that causes that momentary pinging sound. I've heard this sound even on a N/A Z......it's relatively harmless, since it happening at lower RPM, and only for a moment.

My solution is simply to avoid flooring or lugging the car below 3000rpm....

Sharif,

The last dyno day I went to was at the Dyno Shop in Santee, CA and one of the things that we needed to do before we were dyno'd was to remove the engine cover. If they had to do it, they were charging an additional $5.00 to take it off. Do we need to remove our engine covers before we dyno this Saturday?

No, you don't need to remove anything at all.

I am glad...becuase that would definately be a pain with over 20 cars.

Right on!

Only 3 more days to go! WOO HOO!!

I am guessing that with all my mods, I'm making between 250 and 255 RWHP.

Anyone else want to guess what they'll be making? We should start a pool to see who guesses the closest to their actual HP Hehehe!!
