I have a big-aaaass exhuast leak now at the manifold to head point. One of the nuts almostly completely backed off, and of course, in typical Greddy TT fashion....its IMPOSSIBLE to reach with a wrench without tearing apart the entire passanger side of the engine compartment. So on decel, my car sounds like crapola.

Not sure how the leak will effect power.

That being said.

Question

Will there be a caravan going to the place? I'll be coming from the Phillips Ranch/Diamond Bar/Chino Hills area ... hopping onto the 210-W.

I'll be heading there from the Anaheim area (57 and 22). Maybe I'll see you on the way?

I really would have loved to get my DC SS headers from summit installed along with the technosquare before the dyno, but I guess it will give a good before and after for reference.

350Now and I are meeting at my house in Pasadena, off the 210 freeway at 7:30am. I'm planning on being at the dyno by 8:00am, so if anyone else wants to come early, and if traveling that direction, you could all stop by my place, and we'll caravan together.

PM me if you want the address....

THX, I know you'll be there.....right??

We're planning to leave home around 6:45 so we can get there early. I'd imagine we'll be at the shop before 8:00. I guess I'll start the line. hehehe

I know I've been to your place before Sharif, but could you PM me your address? I'll let the NAV do the thinking in the morning.

Angry VERY Disappointed!!

First of all BIG Thanks to Sharif for getting this event all set up and organized. It was great to see a lot of familiar faces and meet some new people. I love these group events because you get to see come SHWEEEEET looking cars (Ron, the TZII is coming along quite nicely!) and also hang out with a great group of people.

However.....

I must say that I am EXTREMELY disapointed with the results of my 3 dyno pulls today. My only assumption is that either Strictly Dyno is running some type of Mustang/Dynojet hybrid or they need to recalibrate their dyno because it is seriously WAY off by like 20 hp!

I had my car dyno'd back in January and with only a grounding kit I pulled 238.8 on the best of 2 pulls. That is pretty much stock.

Today with all the performance mods listed in my signiture below, I had a conservative guess that I'd make around 255+ hp, but to my dismay, my BEST pull was ONLY 239.0!!!!

Sorry... but I have to call BU#L$HIT on that one!

There is no way that I only made .3 horsepower more with all the stuff on my car. Hell, any ONE of the mods I have would get me A LOT more than that.

The final nail in the coffin for my day was that after my 3 pulls and I was leaving, ALL the lights on my dash stayed on when I started the car (VDC Off, Brake, ABS, SLIP) and I freaked out. Luckily Sharif was there with his OBD-II scanner to check out the ECU codes and it turned out that it was fine. The lights went out after a few miles of driving (Thanks again Sharif, you are a lifesaver! )

So.... with all that said, It was GREAT to see you all again and I can't wait for the next event but I am especially anxious to hear the numbers that you other guys got. Especially those who have base dyno numbers or have had their cars dyno'd recently and know what their cars should be making. My guess is that the dyno at Strictly Dyno needs some serious fixin'

STRICTLY DYNO's DYNO

-Chris

Don't worry about the VDC light. It always does that after a dyno where you have the rear wheels going 140 MPH while the front wheels aren't turning.

Anyway, I "gained" 3.5 HP after Kinetix V3 plenum, UR crank pulley, and popcharger, so sounds like everyone's numbers are low. I also "lost" 6 ft lbs of torque.

Although now my peak HP is at 6400 vs 6200 from before.

The Dyno was off. no question. My guess is it was off about 7 or 8 percent.

I made 238.6 rwhp and 234.9 Torque That is what a stock 350Z runs.

Here is what I can remember. these numbers are in the ballpark.
I think there will be an offical posting.

Guys who were all stock or just intake we averaging 214-222.
N/A Modded Z's were 225-239.

You could see the difference in HP between modified cars and stock. about 10-15% diff in most cases.

All the G35's ran in the low 240's

The 300TT ran 450
The turbo Z ran somewhere around 350 something
The super charger G35 ran around 300

Here is an older thread of members dyno numbers.
compare Stock vs. modified and you can see the dyno must have
been off. most of the stock Z's in the older thread are hitting 238.

I think there were 3 stock Z's today, maybe one with pop charger, They hit between 214 and 222. that seems low to me

Here is the thread.
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....light=dyno+day

You have to take all Dynos with a grain of salt. it was hot today.
I am not sure the fan used had enough umph to really help and
factor in the dyno being off in some way.

All in all It was fun and you could see that mods did make a difference in HP. Just hearing all the Z's screaming was cool.

If you add 20 to everyones numbers it looks more like the
stats on the older thread I posted.

If anything I know I have increased my Z about 10-12 percent more HP than stock.

Thanks to Sharif for setting up a fun morning.

Here is my Graph

To say I was disappointed would be a understatement...... I guess i'M DOING ALL THE REST OF MY dYNO'S AT Powertrain in Huntington Beach at least for the $75 I can walk away with about 14 more Horsepower

My concerns with how the Strickly Dyno

Dyno above gound. ( just like STILLEN) I lost 15 hp there too.

Fans were to far away and too small.

It was great seeing everone again and My newbie was quite impressed with all the cars .

Smile Dyno Day - Way cool

Diablo
Chris
Ron
Sharif

Heck.. The Greddy TT - was 377 with manifold exhaust leaks.
The set fuel maps - were wiped out.. Tuning between pulls from memory..
The dyno reading low.... I think we saw a 400hp run from sharif..

The odd thing was occilations of hp/rpm in the chart..

One of two things - the ehaust manifolds are pulsing...
Or the clutch is going out..

Any one know??? The zig zag was 3000 rpm to redline..

And a strange dip in all runs exactly at 5000 rpm...

Good day... and Pho Son 1 - pho tia chin... mad my day..
and helped with my hang over...

Cheers Amy -

SQUILL...

My car was first up... And it sounded great... Almost Pure Stock

When I got the numbers.. I said O.K. 214 HP and 228 Torque..

Not bad for a Stocker.. HP curves and A/F ratio were Factory purr-fect..

When the next three cars came up.. And some serious mod's
were low in the owners expectations.. I got the picture...

This Dyno had been moved a month or so back.. They had to do a prelim - calibration... And I think they may have set it with a "Known" big block car.. But on a cool or moist day/evening

... ( You know it never rains in So Calif.. Ha! )

A similar Stock car at a DynoJet in Huntington Beach did 235-239 .
Torque about the same. I'd have to look in the Archives...

But it was a good experience.. And it is nice to see your car go 135mph sitting still.. And hear what 135mph sounds like..
You get even more respect for the car.. I drove home in traffic like a daily driver... And just went WoW...

Cheers Amy -

Can I get a VQ35D in one of my 1981 280ZX Turbo Coupe's?
Best of Old School and High Tech School.
