ZXSaint thanks a bunch! While you're there ... could you also get my file? ... or the entire groups for that matter?

My file names are as follows:
DYNORUN.0036/12/04 10:25:04 AM
DYNORUN.0026/12/04 10:24:40 AM
DYNORUN.0016/12/04 10:24:16 AM
For reference, I was car #7.

Thanks again

THX and Chris...this is really good analysis.

Chris, I am nearly certain if you can get your A/F sloping to a low of 12.5-12.8:1, you'll gain that power back and be closer to 250-255.

Hey, before I leave for Charlotte, I am planning on renting a dyno for at least 2 hours..maybe more...anyone can PM me if interested in fine tuning their cars.

ZXSaint,
It would be much appreciated if you could grab my dyno sheet also, I was car #9. My sheet was gone with the wind out my damn window of all things. Some might call it fate cause the numbers sucked so bad.

Default Turbo at higher miles

Wow!! Zguy, 80,000 miles and making about 470 hp and 500 torque. Judging on the psi he probably reinforced the block but still 80k miles and 24psi thats alot!! I wonder how many miles since the rebuild? You guys wouldn't be able to post his power curve or anything on the dyno would ya? Very impressive...I can't wait to TT mine...now to just find a sponser in Jacksonville FL??? Oh and one more question for Zguy have you done a quarter mile time yet? Just curious what that kind of power can do on the strip?

I hope you realize it was a 300ZX. And there are plenty of supras with 100k miles and up with rebuild making 500-700hp. It was still pretty damn impressive with it seemed like stock turbos.

Awww, oh well it is still a nice score for a 300zx as well. Sorry for the confusion. Thats what you get for assuming...

The 300ax had every upgrade imaginable. Upgraded turbos, intake, JWT ECU Program, etc..etc. The block and head, however, are bone stock.

Rob showed me another dyno run he did a month prior it his car should be over 500whp...very impressive.

That is surprising because that car was amazingly quiet for a 500hp turbo. He must have muffled his BOV and wastegate.

all the turbo cars tend to be quite, even with straight pipes, since the turbo significantly muffles the exhuast note.

Did mine sound loud? If it did...it was the exhuast leak.

Default Plenum cracked

Well...

As I was under the hood tonight installing some braided hose I looked at my plenum and I'll be damned if it isn't cracked! I am thinking that it's been like that for a while because there is a small buildup of gas around the cracks and a little pool under the strut bar.

Perhaps this contributed to my low numbers on the dyno???

Needless to say, I'll be contacting KINETIX ASAP.

aaaaaaahaaaaaa
I knew it! :P and you were blaming the dyno!

Ok...kidding..just had to throw that in there...the door was wide open.

Well, looks like I wont be doing Kinetex Plenum with F/I anytime soon.

Yeah. I saw that one coming, Sharif! I still feel that the dyno was low... but I am positive that the cracked plenum didn't help my numbers at all.

As much as I like the KINETIX plenum I would definitely not recommend it for F/I. I'd either go Crawford, or wait for the F/I Specific KINETIX plenum.

I predict kinetix goes out of business before they make a decent plenum let alone a whole new one for FI. Unless bill gates is backing the company, they have to be in debt. They must have at least 100 plenums that they just gave away for free because of their guarantee. Unless you pull some NASA grade plastic out of your ***, plastic was never meant to be in an engine. Their only selling point is you can keep your stock strut bar; I really can't believe so many people bought these.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say plastic was never meant to be in an engine. Many factory cars have plastic intakes with no problems whatsoever. LS1's, LS6's, nissan Titan, some Audi's, Volkswagon's, ETC. The idea was good though, but I won't be buying a kenetix plenum anytime soon.

The plastic engine components used by the OEMs are typically fiber re-enforced; much the same concept re-bars are used to create re-enforced concrete. I also believe some of this 'fiber re-enforced' material is used in our engine bay.

Having said that, I actually got in on the Kinetix group buy and should be recieving a v4 soon. My only sense was gauging this as a relatively low-risk item to failure for a NA car. It's also quite easy to revert back to the stock plenum, which I will still have. Let's hope with stronger material and design this v4 is the final version.

BTW ... the first half of the video (car 1-7) for the Dyno Day is up. Check them out HERE. I'll likely release the 2nd half sometime next week.

Bah! Is it possible that I'm actually capable of making mistakes? ... apparently YES . Looks like I botched the URL.

Here's the correct link to the VIDEO

Sorry for the confusion.

Glad you like my sick sense of you humor!

Even with a minor crack, its doubtful you lost much power from it unless a big chunk was missing. And in that case, your CEL would be on, and your car would overall run like ****.

With a bit of tuning, and a new plenum, your car will see 250plus...even with that low reading dyno.

Plastic intake tbing is one thing, but a plastic intake manifold that has bolts which must be torqued is a whole nother thing. It might be safe in some applications, but from all of the feedback about those plenums, they obviously are not working.
