Default My Fuel Solution -- Comments Welcome

My installer provided me with a fuel solution while I was out last week on a business trip.

I want to run what they did by all the fuel gurus on this board to see if they covered all the bases, or if I need them to do something else for me. My goal for this system is to be able to have enough fuel to run about 420-430 to the wheels.

They installed:
Walbro 255
Aeromotive A1000-6 FPR
and a return system

Install Pics

They took out the stock FPR and I run 45 PSI at idle, 55 when I begin to boost and 1:1 when boosting. I have not adjusted the E-01 yet as I am still waiting on my ignition harness, so I have the E-01 turned off. Yeah I am rich as hell, so I have not hopped on it at all.

Check it out and let me know what you think. Many thanks to GQ for answering a few questions for me.

I still cannot find an ignition Harness, if anyone has any ideas or leads, let me know!!!!! Everyone keeps telling me 2 more weeks, every 2 weeks.

NX-Intercooler will be installed next week, as I am out next week for travel. I got a really good deal on the NX-Intercooler with 10 lbs bottle. I think I will install it in the spare tire well......if anyone has a better idea let me know. My only requirement is that the install must be stealth. I'll post some pics when its done.

Thanks,
Matthew

PERFECT! It is beautiful!

Although not as bullet-proof as the full fuel-rail-mod-version that ACP is doing, this is pretty solid.

Also, you should set your base fuel pressure to about 50-52psi. Although there are different levels you can set the base pressure. I plan on running 52psi at idle. (stock level). But in doing so, you'll need to significantly lean out the eManage fuel table, since the current map is expecting a steady pressure drop all the way to redline, since thats how the POS stock fuel system is designed....just an FYI.

Otherwise...this is GREAT! Congrats!

Thanks GQ for the reply, it's always good to get the GQ stamp of approval.

I got a couple of PMs.....Z1 Motorsports in Atlanta did the install.

All of their work has been on time, priced very resonably, and within budget....very knowledgable group of folks. Highly recommended.

How long does it take for the install? Im moving to Charlotte in 3 weeks, so maybe I could drive me car down for the service.

I'd like to meet Z1 as well.

It took them less than a day to do everything. They did everything including parts (255, FPR, and return system) for under $600. I thought that was a great deal, as I go a price quote for 2k from some other company * mumbles *.

Z1 is about an hour away from the city of Atlanta. We should organize a Dyno day (350s and 300s) down there, and then all go out that night.....ever been to Atlanta?

The owner's car (Russell) is a monster, its a 300zx with the same set up as The Peacemaker....plus a 65 shot.

How much would it cost to do the full fuel-rail-mod-version?

That sounds about right. With shipping, the Walbro 255 and Aeromotive fpr cost me about $250. That means for all of the additional parts, labor and adjusting the fpr cost you under $350. I'm guessing mine will be done for that amount or less

Anyway, sounds like a nice set up. (Just like mine) Let us know if you are able to hit your goal of 420rwhp-430 rwhp. I'm shooting for the same thing.

whosdady, you have a Greddy kit, right? If so, have you purchased your ignition harness yet? How long ago? From who?

Sorry Bini, I have the ATI Procharger. I don't know much about the ignition harness. One of the largest greddy dealers is SP engineering. I would give them a call. 877- 605-8545. They always had the lowest prices when I had my supra.

So the myth about using the Greddy ignition harness and frying our coil packs is untrue? Sorry. I've been MIA for a while.

Welcome back Mr. B!

As long as you install diodes on the emanage ignition harness, and NEVER leave your car in the key-on-engine-off position for more than 30 seconds, there are no problems.

Even with the dioides, if you leave the key on for too long, you'll still fry the coils.

Hehe... so I can't leave the key in the ignition anymore? How am I going to listen to my music and play with my gadgets when the car's off?
That seems a little dangerous to me still. Has anyone tried having Technosquare tune the timing while using the Emanage for fuel?

Wow, this does sound weird. So I guess it is OK to leave it in ACC mode where only the radio is running, but it is not OK to leave it in the mode when all of your lights in the car light up??

So if you get the harness, I assume you can adjust the timing with the harness through emanage, correct??

Mr B..dont you worry. You can still run all your gadgets with the key in the ACC position. Just dont leave it in the "ON" position will all your dash lights on like a christmas tree. Yes, I suppose that Technosquare could just retard timing...but why....the reflash is $595, the injector harness is $29.

Lrod: Exactly, with the ignition harness, you can retard timing, and with the injector harness (included with the Greddy kit), you can add injector pulse width.

Cheers!

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Are there any issues with running this setup? I am considering to run something similar and having the FPR mounted either behind the back seat or in the trunk. My two main concerns are

1. can the FPR operate well so far down from the fuel rails

2. any safety concerns running the pressurized side down into the back of the cabin? What kind of pressure difference is seen typically on the return line vs fuel rail?
