vortech v2 SQ jackshaft question
im talkin about the jackshaft housing/bearing/enclosure......
((see below))
in this part, i am hearing an intermentant 'wurlbling' sound....
when i tighten the belt guide (backside of the bracket) i hear it alot more........
it seems to be irregular that this makes a noise as such....... (oftentimes is very quiet, but other times it is noticabley squawking!)
thoughts on a bad bearing??
and yes, i have the best of bad luck ...Im used to it really
i wonder if
VORTECH will send out another one, so i can see if its bad (will have the dealership review this , and inspect thruout, next week)
-eS
ps- i thought i saw someone post on having a bad bearing in the jackshaft assembly........

I dont have any noise...that I notice .If you take it off in the next couple days...let me know will you ? I'm putting on a 9lb jackshaft pulley next week and want to know what it takes to get it off . If you need a puller to take it off ? or if it comes off easy ? Is it wobbling on you that you notice ?

Now that you mention it mine just started making noise (last two days), I will have my dealer review as well and report back.

dang-
mine has just started the warble/wurble sound, and i can get it quiet by changing the pressure on the belt tensioner.....
if i push down on the guide/tensioner, the thing screams... if i put little/no pressure, the thing warbles.....
i cant seem to find any middle ground, which is unlike before (consideration of the belt stretching too)

I guess I got lucky for now, I just went out and tightened the tension on the belt and my noise got quieter. The SC belt was looser than my regular serpentine belt. Time will tell.

esemes...
I've had this same problem two times now. On both occasions it made the wurbly noise for a couple hundred miles (no more than a single tank of gas) then went away.
Had my mechanic take a close look at it and our best guess is that something may have gotten into the bearings, a small piece of debris or something, and that after a while it just gets crushed... hence the noise going away. This is only a guess, though. So far, I have seen no detrimental effects from either occurence (other than the annoying short-term noise).

Let me know if you find some sort of debris or if the noise just goes away... like I said, for us it's just a theory but it seems to fit. It would be good if someone else has the same experience so I can stop what little bit of worrying I've done over it.
