Well most of you know I finished up the turbo install and what not, and I am now working on getting the car running on the FCON EMS.
This morning I woke up a little early for a Sunday, around noon.
I did something I didnt really plan on doing... I said screw it and put the E-Manage and 440s in for now. I put so much work into the car I just wanted to boost it.
Impressions? Well I am surprised how clean it runs with the E-Manage in a MAF car, but at the same time its SUCH low boost that it really isnt a big deal... only 5.5 - 6 psi. I would have to say that its actually pretty much perfect for a customer setup, and if we didnt have such high HP goals we would just leave it as is... probably just add the ignition harness and pull some timing and run more boost and call it day.
At any rate, I havent put it on the dyno yet.. im gonna do that in just a little bit. My mother is out having fun with the car right now.
I got a change to race a Viper RT/10 today.... I was pretty surprised. The RT is not quite as fast as the GTS... but its not that slow of a car. It was not an older RT, it was around a '99 or '00 I could tell cause I am around Vipers all the time.
The guys in the RT kept looking back at me when I caught up behind them... so I could tell they were interested. We got thru traffic together then found an open spot starting on a on-ramp to a large express way.
On the on ramp, once we got past the nasty curve and some big bumps he punched it, and so did I right behind in.
I had to let off the gas 3 times so I wouldnt rear end him. Once the ramp merged it was clear and I kept on it hard, shifted into 6th gear, and slowly but surely worked around him. I got about 4 cars ahead and then we both shut down and I instantly learned that the stock pads on the stock brembos pretty much suck.
I didnt completely smoke this Viper, but I was walking around at a rate fast enough that it would have taken quite a bit more power for him to stop it from happening.
I am going to put the car on the dyno as soon as my mother gets back with the car and I am expecting to see maybe 345rwhp, I dunno. It feels like a mid 12 second car... but I do seem to feel a little bit of inconsistency in the power output... possibly just effects of the piggy backs, or possibly just in my head since I am used to cars significantly faster then this.... I honestly did not think the car felt fast enough to pull on that RT/10... but it did and he was definatly racing and he gave me thumbs up when we slowed down...
I dunno, pretty damn cool. Needs some more damn boost tho... cant wait for this FCON.

Good work! Yeah, most people are surprised with how clean the eManage can run the car at lower boost settings. I cant wait to see the dyno, and your professional analysis in terms of how to improve the stock maps.
Do you plan on doing the fuel system and maxing out the eManage prior to moving to the FCON?

im not sure what my plan is now.. i never intended to put the e-manage in... if i was going to do that the car could have ran back in december.... i might play around with the E-Manage for a week or two... but in my spare time ill be working on getting the FCON to run...
if i decide to turn up the boost, i need to start logging the ignition timing since I am not too familiar with how much timing this car runs when driving around or at full throttle... i am not sure if i would want to turn up the boost before starting to take back some timing... and I am not sure I want invest in taking out timing with a piggy back when the car is going to run on the EMS soon anyway.
are you running 9psi with stock timing? i dont see the ignition harness in your signature... 9 sounds like quite a bit much on stock timing but if others are getting away with it maybe ill turn her up to 8 or something for now.
just cause i dont know how much timing is in here, I have been running the car on only 100 octane. I put 350 miles of hard abuse boosting on the car today, thats a hell of a lot of miles for one day... just got back i need to get my *** to sleep so I can get to work in the morn.

phunk, don't get confused, GQ definitely isn't running 9 on a stock timing map. He's got the harness solution =)
Speaking of which, I need a turn-key way to crank my boost up too =(( I *NEED* to break 11's...

I am running ignition retard via eManage ignition timing harness ($30). At 9psi, you'll recall the other discussion about my low dyno numbers. Skidazzle had mentioned that after a TS reflash, his ECU was spitting out 14-16 total degrees of advance. So to make a long story short, I was taking out too much timing.
So now I am taking out around 5 degrees through most of the range, and then 6 degrees after 6000rpm. This is on shitty 91octane pump gas. I think I could get away with a bit less retarding if I had the 93octane good stuff.
Depending on your fuel, I'd retard timing anything above 6.5psi on 93 octane gas, and 6.0psi on 91 octane gas. Hell, my car and my buddies car were pinging at the stock settings on Greddy...even at 11:0A/F.

Did you have any other exhuast manifold leaks at the head? Did you use the Greddy studs? Or did you buy longer/better aftermarket studs.
I have to say, that the kit is realliy nice, but Greddy cut some corners in the most ludicrious areas...such as gaskets, bolts, nuts, and studs. Inexcusable if you ask me.
If you have new studs...lemme know where I can get some. One of mine is striped, and the others...well...might as well replace them all.

I used the greddy manifold studs in the cylinder head. None of them stripped on me. I havent checked them yet to see if any of them were working loose or anything... I pretty much dont worry about it unless something starts to leak.
