Default vortech 5a/t info possible answer.

ok after days of research and many e-mails and phone calls I am hoping that timing is the culprit in the shifting prob for the 5 a/t I called split second ,vortech(useless) and technosquare.Split second seems to think it might be to much timing retard. He stated that the 5 a/t probably already pulls a little timing right when the car shifts to smoothe out the shift and with the split second box is pulling timing at the same time it it probably is pulling to much and confusing the tranny.Especially with the stock vortech map pulling 1 2 3 6 10 then 15 at redline. On top of the jump from 6 10 to 15 wich is pretty staggered the tranny ecu is probably pulling a few degrees on top of that.I am going to get the car tuned tomarrow so hopefully I can get this figured out.But what do you think the minimum timing retard should be but still staying safe.I know I was running a 75 shot of n2o (forced induction) with no timing retard and had no shift probs at all.Now I am running the s/c and it also being forced induction the only major difference is the piggy back box and the timing retard.

opinions?

Hope you get an answer on tthe timing , Im going to the tuner Wendsday and want to know what every one else is doing . Some one said they are taking out 1 degree every 500 rpm's starting at 4,000 rpm's .That would be 7 degree's at 7,000rpm .Wondering if thats enough ? Compared to the stock map its not much and I have the 9lb pulley also .

Did you guys review my map the other day when I posted a link? I have spent about 4 hours on the dyno perfecting mine. I have 9lb as well.

are you going to Sam at Coastal CHassis???

i just spoke to him today; next tuesday he's gonna remap for my exhaust system AND my brand new lil puck!!

cannot wait to see the results (already feel it, with the oem puck)

please reply with your findings, and opinions on the shop (i hope you have the same degree of success i have had with sam and his shop.....)

just keep in mind, he uses a mustang chassis dyno, which factors in load (numbers are 7-8% lower than the typically posted HP numbers, a la DJ series dynos...)

Stock Fuel map so R4 could compensate properly, otherwise they did: removed Speed Limiter / Raised Rev limiter and compensated for current mods.

[hijack]

boog- PM'd ya on my status with the mini puck

fellas -

would/will a TS reflash work for my scenario (6mt custom mapped SS)
to:
*raise the redline (will it actually make more boost/hp)
*remove the speed limiter (is there one on the mt?? and is this referring to the vechicles top speed, or speed in gears, or what???)

[/hijack]

That is pretty much what I have too.In comparison to your r-4 your timing is being pulled way less than mine so hopefully that is my prob.Did you ever rev to redline before your tuning or have the lag.

does anybody else have any issues with hitting the rev limiter, i hit it all the damn time, i cant help it, the revs just shoot up so fast now, i was wondering if anybody did this also and if there were any bad outcomes.

In my previous post my R4 database was set default to “display mode: Gauge Pressure”. If you change the settings under system options to: “Vacuum / Pressure “you will note things look correct. Here is a repost of the Database with correct settings.

I thought the rev limiter increase with the edge racing torque converter solved these issues? There is also a recent ECU flash for the 5AT cars that can be done through consult at the local dealership. You may have to find an Infiniti/Nissan dealer from the way it sounds. I am still trying to find more information on this to see exactly what it is doing.

Actually I took my car to nissan today and tried to do the tranny update and it is only for the infinity not the z.Also it wont work on the z due to the fact that the consult pulls the patr # off the tcm and wont let it load a infinity update on a z.
