Vortech BOV Noise Reducer
The price seems high here, but would this make things considerably more quiet for the kit??? Anyone know where else to buy these?

Interesting. The price list was not clear if you could buy the noise reducer seperate from the BOV. It makes sense that you could. If so, $36 does not seem like much to me.
I have been planning on this mod since I got my Vortech. I just have not gotten around to doing it yet.

That's just a basic filter that Vortech sells for the BOV. I didn't check the price on that site, but if it is the $36 quoted above, it is a high price. I think Vortech sells that for HALF that cost....
the filter is 9.95 from VORTECH...
although it DOES help the sound some, its not gonna make it stealth-like (and non-audible inside the car) like my version does....
i use the same filter, but take it a step, or two, further.....
what?? did you hear that?? nah, me either.....

esemes, I would want as stealthy an install as possible - does this help the "whistle sound" at idle at all?? What other sound reduction measures have you taken - please do tell
Thanx....

LUANDA....
i will author my fix by tomorrow (with pics)
go ahead and get the filter, in the meantime; you'll be using it for sure....
i got two, as i butchered the first one in the experimental process (filter 1 of 5 different ones i proto'd)
if you have the shreik (whistle, inconsistant) that sounds like a true whistle (not the bov expulsion/venting sounds) then your valving is not to spec. i returned my bov as a result.....
try this::: with the car idling, place a yardstick infront of the bov ( thin side touching the horn edge).... then move the stick around to see if you can cancel out the whistle sound...... ifso, you have a bad seal (inside), and need to contact vortech....
even with a corrected bov (no whistle)from vortech, i still felt compelled to extinguish most of the normal operating bov sounds, so thas why i say to get the filter from em anyway....
let me clarify::: the new bov i got did NOT whistle, but made the typical venting sounds.... i just felt it to be too loud, and uneccessary for the component to function correctly...
best of luck; stay tuned for my fix
sms
ps- thanks to timrod for the yardstick trick (i was able to silendce the bov while the car was on the lift, by placing my finger over the center of the vent trumpet.... if you're not lifted, the yardstick is the best way todo this, as you cannot stick yer hand down thru the top without SERIOUS RISK to your health....

I am still looking forward to your instructions on the BOV noise reducer. (So is my wife).
