Default Aftermarket differential

I'm looking into getting an aftermarket LS differential but I'm not certain exactly what the differential does or if the stock one needs replaced. Can someone tell me the benefits of going with an aftermarket differential? Smoother more reliable transfer of power, etc? Also, any info on the Cusco 1.5 one? Thanks in advance.

Here you go again, more changes. I think you should go with the Vette rear end. You won't slide out in 3rd.
