Very nice...

I can't wait to hear from you guys about how these and the Pauter rods run - noticeable difference if any in daily driveability of your engines yada yada yada....

I know you didnt start the thread GQ but are these .020 over ? if not how much over, is .030 or .040 over still consider a clean up bore will these require honing or will the block need to be punched out more,is everybody in the GB getting the same size bore?
sorry if it seems like a jack

They are standard bore, two people went this way and thus received their pistons earlier. The rest of the 8.5:1 guys went with .020. Any more overbore with OEM sleeves is not recommended.

^^^what he said^^

With the GB, you had a choice of compression, and a choice of standard bore, or a .020 overbore. They can make them any way that you want. If you want additional overbore, they can do that too, but as G3 mentioned, I wouldnt trust the stock sleeves if your goal is to increase displacement by overboring. .020 is done primarliy to clean up the cylinder wall, and allow for a perfect initial seal between pistons rings and cylinder.

The pistons set includes pistons, rings, wrist pins, and locks...everything you need to install them.

This may be a dumb question but what is overbore?
is it increasing the serface area of the pistons?

.020 overbore is just a slighly...and I mean....very slighty larger diameter piston. A .020 overbore is used so the machine shop can perfect the bore shape...since the cylinder bore will become slightly oval shaped due to the natural forces of the motor. So we bore it .020 before putting the piston in. This way, you get a perfect seal. It's debatable if .020 is really necessary in newer motors in good condition, but its likely a good idea. Oh, and the strenth of the cylinder wall is not materially effected, since we are taking away material that is roughly 1 human hair's thickness.

Cheston, heat treatments are optional...roughly $120 for the set of pistons. Again...also debatable as to how effective they are. Some people swear by them, others say they are a waste of money. More important is the piston design, materials used, and the assmebly/machining of the motor.

Jergen, PM me if you are interested in pistons...I can help.

In the Group Buy I did, the TT people went with 8.5:1 to 9.1:1

I dont think there is really a "best" CR. It depends on your goals, and on the turbos. The PE's would probably be better matched at about 9.5:1, whereas the Greddy's becuase you need to boost more to get them in their sweet-spot, would likely work better in the 8.5 - 9.0 range.

If the goal is 600whp plus, I would go 8.5:1, and if the goal is mid 500 level, then I'd choose 9.0:1 Hope that helps!
